- Case 580ck
Hey everyone, hoping I might be able to get some help or advice on this issue.
So I have a '70 580ck with the draft-o-matic hitch setup, and
1) I'm not sure if I either don't know how to use it, or
2) It just doesn't work and I need to figure out why.
I have an old service manual and parts catalog, but the parts catalog shows absolutely nothing for the draft-o-matic system, and the service manual I have is only mildly helpful.
As far as I can tell, I should be able to start the tractor up, and just move the "quadrant lever" forward or back, to move the hitch up and down. It's not even trying to move. Now, the arms are not stuck, I can lift them and lower them freely.
I first decided to go through the control valve to see if it was gummed up or something, everything looked super clean.
I then decided to take off the input hose at the control valve and turn the engine over to see if it pumped any out. Nothing. Then I started up the tractor, and revved up the motor, and the fluid started coming out, but not much at all, and pretty slowly, especially when the manual seems to imply about 1500lbs of pressure....
I'm not really sure how the system works, the manual describes that the pump has a suction tube at one end, but doesn't show where the suction tube sucks from.... does it share the same fluid as the front loader??? Do I need to fill it up separately?
The loader works fine, just in case I pulled the fill check plug and it might even be over full cause it was pouring out.
I really don't know how the system works so I dont know if it's only operator error, or if I have problems I'm chasing. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I was able to get the thing running pretty good, when I first got the tractor, the carb was somehow stuck at full throttle, I had to use the choke to slow it down. Rebuilt the carb and after some adjustments to the float and idle screws I finally got it starting and idling good without needing the choke during our summer months.
