\"Limited\" Category 1 3ph

I am considering buying a 2210, but am confused about the "limited" cat 1 3ph. Dealer says it takes all Category 1 implements but is limited to 750 lbs of lift and it's lift height is less than larger tractors, but only by a couple of inches.

However, I find references in various accessory websites saying Limited Cat 1 hitches are the same thing as Cat 0.

Who's right? I expect to disc up a couple acres of horse pasture every year, drag a harrow around frequently, use a box scraper a fair amount -- and the rest would use the front end of the tractor.

Any words of advice would be appreciated by this newbie.

I have a 4' bush hog and the limited cat doesn't effect me. I am told that the limited part of the hitch comes into effect when lifting tall items. i.e. post hole digger.

I use my 2210 for lots of things. I use a 4 ft box blade, 52" tiller, and have drilled many of holes with post hole digger. The auger is pretty close to the ground though. Just have to be careful when on uneven ground or the auger will drag. I borrowed one, if it were mine I would have shortened the bits a tad.

I used all standard 3PH implements with my 2210 with absolutely no "limitation."
-48" United/Leinbach Box Blade
-Befco Broadcaster
-Turfco aerator
-72" non-name rear blade
-25 Gallon and 55 gallon sprayers
-Borrowed Bearcat PTO Chipper/Shredder

The only limitation of which I am aware is lift height. Maybe that rules out standard auger post-hole diggers. I also considered the lack of position control a shortcoming, but not really a technical limitation.

Toplink slot on my GC2300 (also "limited Cat 1) is slightly narrower than standard Cat 1. It wasn't an issue until I bought a shorter toplink. Had to have the end ground down to fit the slot. I don't know if the 2210 is the same.

There is a difference in the pin sizes between category 0 and 1 so they can't be called the same.

Category 0
For Tractors with up to 20 Horsepower
Top Link Pins are 5/8 inch in Diameter
Lift Arm Pins are 5/8 inch in Diameter

Category 1
For Tractors with 20 to 45 Horsepower
Top Link Pins are 3/4 inch in Diameter
Lift Arm Pins are 7/8 inch in Diameter

A limited category 1 hitch still has the larger diameter pins.

"Limited" cat 1 is a derogatory term applied to the BX2200/GC2300/JD2210 class tractors. It suggests that somehow those tractors are less than adequate. It is neither supported by the specifications defined for category 1 attachments nor by the experience of people using these machines.

Just to clarify, I wasn't talking about pin size; I was talking about the width of the slot on the tractor that accepts the toplink, through which the Cat 1 toplink pin goes. The slot itself is slightly less than the width needed for "standard" toplinks.

The JD 4010 advertises itself as having a full category 1 hitch. It is only 18 hp.

Limited means just what others are saying, lift height. If you run taller implements they may not lift very high, and most of this is because the tractor is small and low to the ground. I know that some of the BX Kubota tractors had different issues,, with the spread of the lower lift arms, and some implements wouldn't fit that tractor. That may or may not be true today still.
