Hi folks.

I have about 15 hours on my X739. I'm coming out of commercial deere equipment for the leaves and snow (1435) and homeowner exmark ztr for cutting the lawn. The commercial front mower was too heavy for routine use on the lawn (shade lawn). I purchased the X739 this summer with a 60 inch HC deck, power flow and 3 bag collector for the grass, a snowblower, the Original Tractor Cab with wiper, lights, and mirror, and the Z-10, 10 hp, 10 inch hose cyclone rake for the leaves.

I was worried about the HDAP tires. No problem. Great traction and no problems what so ever tearing up the turf. The 4wd runs full time and I have yet to test it under slick conditions. I'll know better in the winter. The tractor tracks perfectly straight and does not need excessive adjustment to keep it straight. Maybe this is a function of the full time AWD. The engine is smooth and just powerful enough. I'm used to 36 diesel. Running full time awd, a mower deck and powerflow at full rpm burns a lot of fuel. Seems to be less efficient than expected though I didn't make any exact measurements. Lubing some of the zerks is tough especially for the hard to reach ones on the drive shaft.

The mower deck... I'm coming out of a 60 inch 7 iron (1st generation) and now in the 60 HC deck. This is what baffles me.... no pun intended. I personally feel the finished cut on this machine is better but the original deck had a bigger discharge opening and seemed to handle the leaf volume better. There is a bit of front blowout and there is no baffle made for this deck and no other blade option. I use the powerflow for the grass only and there are seemingly no problems. For leaves, it is terrible. It cannot keep up with the high volume coming out of the deck. This is why I will not purchase the MC14 for the leaves. It runs off the powerflow.

While using the Cyclone rake, despite my best efforts to connect the boot to the opening, there is a few stragglers that escape under the boot while doing leaves. There is blowout too. I checked the deck is pitched perfectly and stripes beautifully. If you have any notion regarding the difference between these two similarly designed decks, I'd like to know.

As stated before by others on this forum, the driveover is fussy but is still better than moving heavy decks around. The powerflow comes on and off the machine easily and the bagger also unhinges with ease.

The original tractor cab is very time consuming to assemble but seems to fit quite well. I am very disappointed that 12 bolts need to be removed in order to lift it off the machine. I was hoping it would be much easier.

The Cyclone rake collects well but it is fixed to the back of the machine like an MC 519 cart and swings out into the shrubs on turns unless you are very careful. It is also very dusty and time consuming to unbuckle and undo the velcro straps. Plus it doesn't empty completely. On the bright side, it is powerful and does not clog! I will likely return it and put a rear PTO on the machine to connect a PECO 22 instead. This is a costly upgrade which allows more maneuverability but I'll lose hauling capacity and I'd be going to an 8 inch hose over 10 inch.

I have yet to use the snow blower but it should be fun, especially with the cab.

I have already, in another thread, commented on the reverse button. It seems like it is made for lawyers, not people who are safe operators. It is pain in the butt to use and takes getting acquainted. If the primary objective is for safety, it doesn't make anyone look back behind anyway! In these days of electronics, there should be a mini reverse camera on the dash instead!

Well that's it for now but I am happy to entertain any questions if need be.

Nice review. I'm considering this mower in the spring to replace my 425. Still not so sure.

Just returned the Cyclone Rake today. They were very gracious and even helped me unload it from my truck.
They refunded me they money including taxes by placing it all back on my credit card.
Great people to do business with.

Hi Murphy.
I bought it directly from the New Haven, CT factory since it is only 75 or so miles from my house.
I took it back today in the pouring rain.
Otherwise, an easy return.
