I have a 2001 GT235 that I purchased 3 years ago; it has been a wonderful machine with the exception of the deck removal/installation process. I do not know if I am doing something wrong, or missing a "trick", but basically the mower deck pins will not both engage the lift arms without forcing the right side of the deck (viewed from above) back. This does two things: 1. The left side of the deck is too close to the left front tire, and 2. I can't easily release the deck pins. There's enough stress that I have to use a wrench behind either pin to force it free from the lift arm hole.

I've put the machine up on jacks and I don't see anything bent underneath. The deck seems fine, as well. I've looked at the parts diagram 99 times; either something is wrong that I am not detecting OR I have something hooked up incorrectly. I've attached a couple of pictures and I am just hoping someone has an idea of what might be causing me all this trouble.

I've attached a couple of screen shots. Right now neither side is engaged with a lift arm. Perhaps someone will spot what's wrong. I've got 1.5 hours in on this and am about ready to haul it in to the shop. Thanks.

It looks to me like the deck is belt driven. Do you take the belt off of the pulley on the tractor first when trying to remove the deck pins? If not, that might be causing all the pressure on the release pins.

Also looks like a nut is coming loose on the front pivot point of that lift arm which should not cause your issue.. but did notice the belt is not loose and jd caught that.
