XR4046H seat switch interlock

Had trouble with the seat switch not engaging. On the HST if not in the seat (switch closed) cannot go forward or backward without the engine cutting out. This is so if you fell out of the seat the tractor would kill the engine for safety.

Not sure the exact problem with seat switch as it was intermittent at times but may have had to do with cold weather not depress fully. At any rate unplugged two wire connector and jumpered harness side with a 22AWG solid copper wire and taped to the connector. This simulated the seat switch and allowed to go without cutout. The HST pedals go to neutral anyway if not depressed and this will also stop movement but maybe not if in cruise control.

Just wanted to let everyone know this seat switch and be overridden with a jumper at your own risk This will allow you to move without being in the seat. (like the old days when we did not have all this safety stuff on tractors)

I had problems with the seat switch on my XR3135, and had told the dealer about it. He showed me the new style switch that is in the seat, and when they took the tractor back to the shop to put the backhoe on it, they put a new switch in the seat for me. Problem is the new one did the same as the old one. Main problem I had was when I had the forks on the front and you were lining up to pick something up, if you leaned forward to see better, the tractor would die. He gave me the old switch he took out, told me if it continued to bother, cut the wires off the old switch and jumper them together and plug them in, by passing the seat switch like you did. But he made me promise if the tractor ever had to go back in for warrantee, to take the jumper out and plug the seat switch back in so LS would not know what I had done, and that he had not told me to do it. Plus he also made me promise not to tell anyone so pay no attention to what I just said. Everything has worked great with the jumper for the last year.

Thanks, I think I will leave the jumper in for now and see how things go. Most likely will never reinstall seat switch unless dealer fixes for free.

Had wire to my seat switch short out during the first week after buying the tractor , started with engine cutting off then it started blowing the control fuse ....LS replaced the switch so far no more problems ...if it fails again I will bypass it ...don't care much for these nanny state safeties anyway
