Things can (and often do) change, w. Time. Cost pressures, and other factors, can mean the brands I trusted in the Past, should be re-checked/verified Today..... Reminder To Self ^..... Regards, D.

Even that ^ post, is a while back ! IIRC, that was a Xantrex @ the time, but long enough ago now I can't be sure. Obviously part of his point was that Grid power @ a given site may not be all that clean either.... but Yes, it is impressive, what can be done w. high-end Inverter products...

Much of the time, you learn the most about ___________, When Things Go Wrong..... No PR spokesperson yada, yada, but the actual veep of Eng steps out. Anybody want to bet how many seconds elapsed from the start of that outage, till he got a msg from Elon ? One of those No-Pressure moments...

Mission Creep.... with a few other agendas thrown in for good measure. I hear ya, for "retirement", you have enough with those 300+ to keep you from just running the streets, and getting in with a bad bunch  Remote telemetry (like you've setup for yourself) would be the main attraction...

I have no interest in getting this thread closed. I do like wide-ranging discussion (in the real-world) on many topics, but on here: If you want to deeply go into what I'll call "Social" issues: A) PM away, as you will. B) Setup your own thread on these ^ topics, in the relevant forum. This...

It's maybe only a 50/50 chance, but same "incapable of physical effort pulling an easy-start cord" person.... I can see spending hours every week in a gym..... Darwin, still lives among us.... Rgds, D.

Here's the Catch..... People that will take Responsibility, also typically want Autonomy and Freewill. That ^ monster rabbit-hole, goes way beyond this thread, and mostly likely would lead to a closed-thread on TBN. (Clarity, if needed - you and I are totally on the same page  ). Rgds, D.

As much as I hate to admit it..... California leads the continent, on way too many things. Many Kanadian cities, are catching up though.... Rgds, D.

Sadly, yes too, north of the 49th. Big ice-storm, 98. Fire-crews hauling everybody out of a house near Ottawa. Dad had brought a big gas grill inside, fired it up full blast, then everybody went to bed. NOT new-Canadians either ^. Fast-crews, and BS luck, they all survived. How can people who...

Likely the case. Still plenty of lung-damage (over decades) from using charcoal semi-enclosed like that. Just not immediately fatal, so may be considered "normal" in other climates/geographies. Rgds, D.

Good point. I've had that one trip in the past, but that is likely a lot longer ago than I think it is. Rgds, D.

    I have a soft-spot, for American V8s. This chat, has a vision of a small-block, custom-exhaust, running a washing-machine, floating through my head..... Rgds, D.

Not being a boater, I hadn't heard about that houseboat issue. Now I'm really curious (future reading) about the lifespan of CO detectors on modern generators. Rgds, D.

Should still be legal (outside of your State) if someone is a licensed gas-fitter. When our Elec cost was on a really high trajectory, I was taking a serious look @ the Sunfrost gas units for a refrigerator/freezer. Rgds, D.
