I'm glad you brought that up. I had the same question about the steering rams. My PT has been feeling a little loose back and forth for the last year or two, doesn't make any repeatable noises but I've heard some shifty clunks in the past. Might be that bolt is toast.

Yes. Bottom one worked as it should for the most part but seemed to favor the bottom of the bearing. I'll pull them both tonight, run 'em through the ultrasonic cleaner and see if we can find a problem with the top one.

To me it would have to be cracked to squirt out like that. Unless it really is an unusual grease bolt. Unsure how tight it is, I cant spin it or move it by hand. I couldn't find a torque spec for it in the manuals either. Does anyone have one? No luck sourcing this size grease bolt...

Good call, I had white lithium on hand and I don't really like it. When I was in to bikes I used a lot of Tri Flow which is a teflon spray. Really good stuff, but expensive.

I think mines an '01 as well. #16312. Purchased January '03. Anywho, I've got the 3 zerk treadle. My top center pin seems to be shooting grease out of a weep hole instead of greasing. Is there a procedure for pulling this pin out? Like shore up both halves first? I've got a part# in the manual...

Are you supposed to lubricate the actual piston rod? Super Lube? Dry lube? Spray, grease?

I have a fuel cut off valve before and after the fuel pump. I was not using either prior to this mess, I only started this weekend when I changed the oil.

I'm pretty sure you can just take out your ignition cylinder and match it up to one at a parts store that comes with keys.
