Nothing against the european design but this SSQA is not a problematic design! It is on millions of pieces of equipment and problems are very rare. If kept greased and operated with common sense (use a piece of pipe as a longer handle) problems are almost non existent.

What about changing back and forth between buckets and forks and other inplements that have no hydraulics? I would rather be able to operate it from the seat otherwise I can just flip the levers if I am up front anyway...

Well I worked in an aerospace company's hydraulic maintenance department for 20 years and we used everything. Pressures up to 10K, temperatures up to 250F, and several different fluids. Most all, probably 90 percent of our leaks were fittings with O-rings. If money or availability is a problem...

Try starting the PTO at half throttle if you don't already, then bring it up to full throttle.

A better time to ask questions would have been before you tried to start it up.
