Took advantage of the mild winter we’re having in Maine and got to work stumping the area where I plan to build a small barn for the tractor and tools. I’m very happy with how well the BH will break through roots. Also, very impressed with the sturdiness of the thumb.

Has anyone out there made something to protect the hydraulic rams that run the outriggers/stabilizers on their BH? Seems like it wouldn’t be very hard to drop a rock on one and scratch them enough to damage them? Just something like a shield to at least deflect dirt and smaller stuff?

What speed do you all keep your tractor at while running your BH? My manual basically says it up to the operator, higher RPM means faster movement. Anyone have a sweet spot? I don’t think pinning the RPMs is the best idea either. It’s on a MT240HE. Thanks all.
