With a trailer that long I would build a tandem trailer and would use an under-structure frame then build the upper deck on that. Something like 6" junior I Beam at 4.400 Lbs. / Ft. or 8" junior I Beam at 6.500 Lbs. / Ft. You could build the side gate then without compromising anything.

I would say you could use the .024 solid core if you did the prep work right. You can grind the hooks with a bevel on both sides where they attach and will be welded to the bucket, this way you will have better weld contact with the base metal. Also you could grove grind the bucket where you...
