    There is no chance of diesel gelling at 20F. But most likely you have a quantity of water in there that has frozen.

    Be aware that if you get a replacement battery, some sizes are made with the positive and negative posts reversed from side to side, and putting one of these in and connecting it up can instantly cause you major expensive damage to the electrical system. Size 24 and size 24F is one example...
