Backhoe Ford 555 power steering cylinders

I saw where they went to the bigger ones, these are chrome and caliper to 0.75 dead on. If I went with a larger seal kit I’m afraid they’d still leak. I’ll check with my local shop.

Backhoe  Ford 555 power steering cylinders

Picked up a Ford 555 backhoe, knew the power steering cylinders were leaking. Got them torn down and discovered rods are 0.75”, not 0.685”. Part number listed on cylinder barrel is C5NN 3A739F. Can’t find either that part number or 3/4” seal kit anywhere. In good shape besides seals. Any...

    1980 Ford 1700

I would clean the filter for sure, I’m not an expert on diagnosing. Could be the filter being clogged up, combined with usage and heat thinning the fluid enough to escape the seals.

Asking 15k for the 580, which is too much, but still out of my current price range at fair market value

Buying Advice  Minnie Mo Big Mo 500 TLB

Looking at a Big Mo 500 in a few days, guy bought in new back in the 60s, hasn’t ran in a while but says it ran when he retired (it’s a contractor liquidation sale). I know parts are a pain so I likely wouldn’t buy it unless he lets me tinker and get it running to test out transmission first...

Ford 1700 lift control spool valve

Anyone here ever had their (3pt) lift control spool valve apart? After replacing my 3pt lift cylinder seal and then redoing the seals in the hydraulic pump to no avail, the only place left to turn was the lift control. Just for reference the 3pt had worked although it would leak down. I was...

Ford 1700 3pt cylinder piston replacement

I was thinking of the JB weld approach once polished up, being that some people use it in engines. A slow moving hydraulic piston shouldn’t be too taxing on it.

    FORD 1700 NEW HEAD INSTALLED

From a 1700 operation manual I bought 43-51 ft-lbs so what JC said. I went for the low end, seems to be working so far. I totally dissembled mine and put them back together, nothing has failed yet.

Ford 1700 3pt cylinder piston replacement

By dressing the gouges, are you refer to light sanding or filling them with something? New to the tractor restoration world, sorry.

Ford 1700 3pt cylinder piston replacement

Replacing the seal on my 3pt cylinder piston, old one came off in pieces. Noticed the piston head that moves in the cylinder has a couple deep scores in it. Before the seal entirely failed the 3pt worked, just drifted down after a while. I’m thinking it’s not worth messing with the scoring given...

Ford 1700 hydraulic oil filter and dip stick

Heck, someone could have measured one and you could have fabricated one cheaper than that. Parts aren’t cheap, spent about $400 in parts for a valve job on my 1700.

    Ford 1700 Injectors

Trying to tinker with a 1980 Ford 1700 I'm looking to pick up from a friend. Replaced the starter solenoid and got it turning over. Fluids and all that changed already, injector pump oil as well. Bled the fuel system, seem to have solid fuel spurting at the block with injector lines cracked...

Replacing Ford loader control valve on Ford 1700

I am looking at a Ford 1700 that has a FEL, structurally everything seems solid although most of the paint is gone but it looks like a Ford 770. The loader needs hooked up and the lines need replaced from the 2 lever control valve to the loader. Fittings are fairly rusted at the control valve...
