2538 will not shift out of high range

I wish I had an answer... I rarely use high gear anymore, moved to a very hilly place so it stays in low range most of the time.

2538 will not shift out of high range

Are you trying to move the shifter with the tractor off? Make sure the tractor is running and not in a bind...

2538 will not shift out of high range

90 hours on machine, has always been a little stiff shifting sub ranges. Pushing on the pedals usually helped. Got harder yesterday, and finally got stuck in high. I mean stuck! I tried everything, disconnected the linkage and lubed it all. Still completely stuck. Anyone seen this?

    2538 Toolbox and Drinkholder

Just brought my 2538 home last week. Downsized from Deere 5083E (got out of the hay biz!) So far I am way impressed with this tractor! Could not stand the lack of toolbox and drinkholder. So I fixed it. $4 toolbox from Walmart, used the two bolts on the fender and some HD doubleside tape to...

    New baling partner!

I taught my best friend (wife) how to run the round baler this weekend! She had a ball! Made 47 bales... took a lot of work off of me having her on the baler while I raked... got done before the rain!

1966 Massey Ferguson MF150 High Clearance Diesel

While contemplating a new raking tractor, (price shock), my gaze fell over my forgotten old MF150... I thought, "I have a perfectly good old tractor right there!" Sure enough, charged the battery and hit the starter and she fired right up! I changed the fluids, adjusted the hydraulics a little...

Just picked up my new round baler last week, and put 39 bales through it last night! Still making a few adjustments, but it works great!

Picking a trailer for new JD 5083E

I'm looking for a trailer for my 5083E with 553 loader. I will occasionally haul with a mower attached so I'm looking at 24' gooseneck minimum. What are the pros/cons of lowboy vs deck-over? I figure the deck-over might be advantageous if I were hauling something wide like a 7' to 8' mower?

New toy is home... 2013 5083e

Got her home this weekend! I'm enjoying it so far, but I can't get my darling bride out of it! Traded my 5045D, got really good money for it. I got the 553 loader, the right door kit, stereo and a hydraulic top link... Now I've got to find a disc mower and a big bush hog... Jim

Clearance issue with 5083e, are R4's shorter?

Ordered my 5083e yesterday. Should have it next week... :) This tractor is physically taller than my 5045D by about 4 inches. I have a clearance issue on my sheds, and would like to lower the tractor a bit. The R4's that are listed as an option are shown with a 51.5" diameter (the R1's are...

Looking at 5083E with 563 loader

CORRECTION it is a 553 loader... Gonna get me a new cab tractor!! Was offered good trade-in on my 5045D... I have a couple of questions though. Got pricing from 46k to 48.5k. No extras... What changed in 2013? Was an exhaust filter added? One dealer still has a couple of 2012s...I don't see...

New JD 328 Baler, started missing knots after 250 perfect bales

Brand new 328, have baled around 250 bales all tied perfectly. Suddenly, started missing bales mid-field. There is a knot on the top, and clean cut-off. The manual describes it as "Knot in Twine Over Bale Only". I read the manual, and the instruction to remedy it. I am hesitant to start...

My new toy! Shiny JD 328 Baler

Delivered on Friday... just completed the break-in and re-grease. I'll drag it behind my 5045D. Or rather, it'll push me around on my 5045D!:D Unfortunately, my field was baled this weekend so I haven't got to use it yet.
