Not necessarily. The Craftsman ZTRs (residential/homeowner design) are 775#s. Most of that is a massive cast-iron front axle. They went from steel box tube in 2006 to the cast and raised the weight about 200#s.
Swisher makes a decent ZTR that is decently built for the price. 60" welded...
