Were you able to get this solved? I have a Troy Bilt Pony as well. Great tiller! The engine has two shafts. The extra one is for the reverse pulley. Does your engine have the two shafts?

I am talking about the 3 point lift arms. Moving the lever down, or forward is raising the arms, and moving it up, or back, is lowering them, which is the opposite of how every tractor I have ever used has been. It can't be right.

I am borrowing a Ford 1710 tractor, and the hydraulic lift operates backwards. When the control lever is pushed down, the arms raise, and when pushed up, the arms lower. What would cause this?

I tried driving the tractor and shifting without the clutch, going downhill. I came back up the hill in 1st high, which is the gear I would usually use on that hill, and everything seemed normal - no clutch slipping. What does that test say tell though? If I can't get the tractor into gear...

Another thing that is happening with the cross arm shaft, is that it has quite a bit of play where it comes out of the clutch housing. If it is right close to the housing it catches and does not move, and if it is a little further out, then it moves, but there is only about an inch or so when...

I had a driveline stuck on the PTO shaft before. I tied the driveline side to a tree with a chain and parked the tractor on the downhill side of the tree, putting some light tension on the chain by letting the tractor roll down the hill. I then heated the driveline where it connected to the PTO...

The tractor has 2,200 hours on it. Thanks for the advice about making alignment dowels, and rolling the front end away.

It has a dry clutch. I am attaching a scanned pages from the repair manual that gives instructions about removal and replacement of the clutch, replacement of the clutch release bearing, and troubleshooting and specifications. It says that an alignment arbor FNH 00077 tool is needed to align...

The cross arm shaft it's expensive, but to install it involves splitting the tractor from what I can tell. Thanks for your thoughts on whether the clutch needs to be replaced, and the information on dry vs. wet clutches.
