The piston is lodged about half way in the end of the cylinder, u can see its up to the sealing rings (wiper washers and o-ring) it went in easily up to where its stuck now should I press it in or is this too tight?

While rebuilding the lift box I cleaned the cylinder and piston added the o-ring and wiper washers. Added a little fluid to the piston and inserted into the cylinder easliy up to the middle o-ring. Thats where its stuck should I press it in ?

I was thinking of changing the gear oil since the lift box is off. What should I use 80 - 90 weight?

Thks Piper184 and QSF for your help. The rubber bumper is attached to the rear cover and Im guessing with a proper pressure in the cylinder the piston rod ball will remain seated in the piston.

When I rebuild it Ill index the arm position to piston location and use the linkage correctly. By the way do you know a good torque setting to use on the lift box? The underside cover is the most important one. I'll use threadlocker but the removed bolts were not that tight when removed...

I removed the back plate and saw the piston rod hanging with a black o-ring hanging around it (pic 1). The piston was all the way to the front and could not be retrevied. I removed the lift box, a horrible design with a bottom cover what would keep hydraylic fluid from leaking into the gear...

Well bad news I do not have a removable top plate. Its joined at the bottom to the transmission.

Thk you so much for taking the time. My model has no set screw (11) anywhere in the housing. When I purchased the my 254 the diverter valve 3pt arm was broken off and they were using vice grips. I removed it and welded on a new arm but the linkage arm(63) was not reattached. I thought it...

Thks Piper184 for the response what seal(see pic) would I look for with the plate removed? Extra note the 3 point can be lifted by hand with little resistance. The only set screw I see attaches the plastic knob to the metal threaded shaft.

I found this info on this forum " Usually the piston seal fails when the piston travels too far and the seal goes out over the edge of the cylinder while under pressure, blowing it out. So after you replace the seal you have to adjust the piston travel." Is it possible that with my valve opened...

Hi I recently purchased a Jinma 254 (Tractor King branding) with a FEL. Fel works and the 3point would raise but not lower. I checked the 3point adjusting valve knob and it was closed all the way and would not budge. I gently rocked it with channel locks and freed the knob and the hitch...
