    Confusion: Cool-Gard vs Cool-Gard II...CONDITIONER?

From what I have gathered John Deere stopped production of the Cool-Gard product in 2008 and replaced it with Cool-Gard II. My pre-2008 manual provides that Cool-Gard is used but given that only Cool-Gard II is available then obviously it will be Cool-Gard II to be used. However, my manual...

    JD 5320 Bottom Cushion Replacement?

I have a 5320 IOOS with the "comfort seat" with cracked vinyl that's great for keeping my butt wet all day after a good rain. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a replacement other than forking out a ridiculous amount of $$$ to John Deere. I believe the part number is AL116978 as seen...

JD 5320: Any idea on the most likely cause?

I had a chance to diagnose the problem today with the tractor sitting cold. The problem is clearly the temperature sender (thermistor). The temperature sender on the Powertech 2.9L Diesel engine is located on the top-left-rear side of the engine block as show in this picture. To test if the...

JD 5320: Any idea on the most likely cause?

While moving some large hay bales around today I noticed the temperature gauge was sitting in the red zone as high as it would go. I immediately stopped the engine to take a look under the hood. I noted that the radiator overflow reservoir was sitting below the "high level when hot" line. I...

Checking airpressure in WATER FILLED tires.

When I check the air pressure with a normal pressure gauge water always comes out. The tires are rotated in the position where the valve stems are at their highest point. Do I need a special device to check air pressure in a water filled tire? Or is a special device only needed when adding...

    Fixing Startup Problems with JD 5220, 5320, 5420, 5520

This post could apply to other John Deere tractors but it is written specific to the JD 5x20 series (5220, 5320, 5420, 5520) tractors as I own a 5320 model. You may find that your non-5x20 tractor exhibits similar problems and may find this information helpful in your diagnostic process. There...

    Locating a seat for a JD 2355

Anyone know of a good cheap source for a replacement seat for a JD 2355? Need to replace the entire seat assembly not just the cushions. Who has the best price and how do I find the actual part number of the assembly? Thanks in advance!

    Tires  Cheap Tractor Tires

I need to pick up a pair of 16.9 x 30 R1 tires. Anyone have a recommendation for the best/cheapest place to get them? Maybe an 800 number I can call or a website I can visit?

Heston Hay Baler crapped out. Why?

I'm posting this message on behalf of the fellow who bales my 12 acres. He doesn't have internet so I'm trying to help him out. He has a 6 month old (new and under warranty) Heston (AGCO/Challenger) RB44 4x4 baler. At most, 100 bales have been put through it. The other day while baling the...

Your opinion of John Deere paint jobs?

I know to some the attitude will be "this is farm equipment not a luxury automobile so who cares about rust, dings, and fading paint". I say, this piece of equipment cost as much as a luxury automobile and lacks the luxury items so at least give me a good decent paint job.

    Diesel Fuel Additive

Anyone using diesel fuel additive. If so, what kind of additive are you using? I've been using "Diesel Kleen". Diesel Kleen Also, has anyone gone to the fuel station and seen labels on the Diesel pump that states something on the order of "This fuel should not be used in 2007 and later...

Who washes and waxes their Deere?

Just wondering if I'm the only one nuts enough to wash and wax my JD 5320. You'd think the novelty would wear off after 3+ years but I still do it. Even put some tire shine on the tire occassionally. I even washed and waxed the FEL and last year I even washed and waxed the MX6 mower attachment.

UPDATE: Solved problem w/ JD 5320 startup problem

I posted earlier that my John Deere 5320 started up for 2 seconds the other day then died and could not restart. This is an update to the situation. I replaced the 3/8 inch fuel hose from the tank to the fuel filter. Also, there was an inline check valve located halfway on the fuel hose. The...
