I spoke with the folks at Messicks and they suggested placing a clutch activated safety switch in the starter circuit with the #50 ignition wire. I have the switch on the way and the bracket to mount to the 1700 body. I will then add an actuator to the clutch plate that will activate the switch...
I have a new spring on the way, but I am unable to pull out the former one if it is indeed in there. I'm hoping it just stays down in the fluid deep on the bottom below the mechanics.
I was more thinking through the arm that activates the push button when stepping on clutch, but I think I have a solution this AM. Messicks pointed me to a switch that is a Kubota and will work the same. Found the bracket on ebay.
I'm leaning toward adding to my current tear drop piece on the...
My clutch pedal looks like this as well and I am about to install a clutch safety switch. I am looking for a part number or what to get to install on clutch linkage to activate the safety switch.
If I perhaps wired this item: https://amzn.to/3zyTI2g
to the starter solenoid, then I'd still have a key switch for ignition (safer than push button) and I'd have the other key switch for warming the glow plugs and lights.
Thoughts? Reasons against?
I'm wondering if I can eliminate the neutral gear safety switch, but wire into the relay a clutch depress safety switch instead. My 1700 doesn't have a clutch safety currently, but I've heard of some that have. Would it work the same way? Could this be interchangeable?
I just contact formed New Holland about replacing potential. I have a feeling I'm gonna be stuck. Any potential to bypass this and still use the key switch or am I stuck with just jumping the solenoid all the time?
I just found that being #24 and #44. Was starting to search the SBA's. Thanks guys.
That's why it seems to work as being grounded. Still curious on my loose wire.
Good morning.
I got a new safety switch in last week, but went away for a long weekend.
I opened up the trans cover this AM, and I believe I knocked a spring in the tranny well.
Going to try and get it out with magnet pick up tools. If I don't get it out, will it ruin something if it is...
I'm new to this thread but about to tackle the Safety Switch under the transmission cover. I have a Ford 1700 with the two gear shift levers. I can verify one black wire leaving the transmission and travelling to the relay. My questions is at the relay connection. I have two wires that...
Next steps taken: I went to the auto parts store with the recently purchased battery. Whatever I did fried the battery, so new battery and cable acquired. Ran a new wire from solenoid to relay and from relay to switch. Still nothing when I turn the key except for the Oil and Battery lights...
I've installed a new relay and got all of the fuse block wires in the correct places. The new relay is plastic compared to a metal one. I was hoping for it to fire right up when I turned the key, but still nothing. Can the voltage regulator affect ignition? Also, the starter is brand new, but...
