Sizing floor joists, and thickness and type of plywood sheeting?

I would go with the larger joist and overbuild the project. Over time you might be surprised at how much weight you haul up there. And it is dead weight that is constantly there. I don't think you ever hear someone saying I wished I would have built it for lighter duty. Doug in SW IA

    BX 2230 3pt hitch

And I thought all BXs were pretty much the same. Learn something new everyday. Who would think there would be that much difference in 3 point arms. Doug in SW IA

    BX 2230 3pt hitch

I am trying to figure out why your arms are dragging on the ground. On my BX24 the arms are 9" above the ground at their lowest point. Pictures?? Doug in SW IA

    BX24 blowing hydraulic filters

Suki, The OP seems to have dropped this issue. I still have the question I asked the OP up stream: "Could you please enlighten me as to exactly what is going on with the filters. You start out saying they are blown and then later talk about them being blown up internally. How do they blow up...

    Pulling small trees

Are you doing a rails to trail conversion? If you are trying to pull trees out of an old railroad track that could change the perspective on the advice given. Pulling out of compacted rock and gravel would be different than pulling out of soft soil. Doug in SW IA

Better hope those grandkids don't stumble on this forum. "Grandpa, could we go SCUBA diving with you?" Could be a whole new set of lessons and trips. Doug in SW IA

You Know You Are Old When

I used to go into my small town bank to cash my paycheck and got to know the tellers. One time we were cashing my check and doing some other money transacting. As we finished up I told her "I think you shorted me a dollar". She didn't think so, and it was only a dollar, so I said "When you...

    Making gas cans great again

I find this as a sad commentary on today's world. Before the EPA edicts I don't recall any major discussions about gas cans. Some may have worked better than others but you just found one you liked and that is what you bought. There may have been pouring issues with the old cans but it wasn't...

    Grading Grading bare limestone

I don't have a solution but I think you are going to have an ongoing battle. I have several forest trails that are dirt based. I would get erosion. I used my box blade to drag the dirt back up the hill and fill the ruts, packing it with several trips with my BX24. But the dirt in the ruts...

Pouring a ~900 sq ft Concrete Pad (basketball court)

Had all 6 grandkids here and they were playing with chalk on the driveway. Somehow they decided to lay down and get their outlines traced. Great fun, but when they left it looked like a horrible crime scene. Doug in SW IA

    Narrow Harrow

My dad had a Simplicity 2 wheel tractor and full set of attachments. This harrow is MUCH heavier built than that one. This one looks like it is for full size tractors. I will try to get some pictures. Doug in SW IA

    Narrow Harrow

Sorry, no pictures. My neighbor just showed me a very narrow harrow he got. It is a spike type, only about 12" wide, and no obvious provision for adding on wings. It almost looks like it was to run down rows of corn, but that doesn't really make sense. Any ideas what a narrow harrow like...

    Corner workbench

I would frame those pictures. If that bench was in my shop, this would be the last time you would be able to see the entire top.;) Doug in SW IA
