    Vehicle Oil changes

I used to say there were 26 things a quick lube place could screw up but today I can only come up with 23. The chances of those places not hitting as single one of these is impossible. I've only had experience with those places through friends and family, never had my vehicles there. bang up the...

Recommended drill bits for hardened steel?

The best bits I've used on the worst material are split tip carbide. They will go through nearly anything, providing you know how to regulate your speed and feed. It's a fine dance to get it right, especially with a handheld. It's a little easier with a drill press. Stay far away from HSS, High...

    Manuals

Did you ever find a manual? I have a 3040 and I'm just trying to find out how much motor oil to buy to change it. I don't remember from last time.

How much does it cost to build a pole barn and what kind is best..

Either a pole barn with trusses or a metal building with arch beams that go all the way up and over, side to side.

    Connecting 1/2" NPTF

Absolute truth! It was hard for me to accept this fact when a knowledgeable expert first told me that tape is not a sealant. It is essentially an anti-seize measure so you can disassemble the fitting later. I just made it up in my mind when I was a kid that it was a sealant.

    Connecting 1/2" NPTF

There should never be even one tiny bit of old tape present when reassembling a fitting. Use a wire brush to remove all traces and apply new.

    Block Heaters 24/7

I assume with posting this on page 7, not many will see it, but here's the real story about engine heaters. I have used them my whole life. They are no more likely to burn down your barn than your radio is. They warm the engine and the oil so it will circulate much easier, sooner, and more...

    Snow boots

Find some military Bunny Boots. Bunny boots or Mickey Mouse boots (depending on the version) are the most common nicknames for the Extreme Cold Vapor Barrier Boots (Types I and II). They have a trapped air barrier inside them. I used to work outside for many hours at -20, -30 and they are the...

Definitive list of PTO driven equipment and 3 pt. attachments?

Probably close to $50k for just what's in the photo.

    Nice innovation from ford.

How have we survived all these years? My dad was peeved at automatic chokes, saying you should be able to understand a truck if you're going to drive it. I hardly think this is the answer for people who have no idea what they are doing. And it wouldn't surprise me a bit if it evolves into a...

Is this what a tire plug looks like?

I have used many plugs and this is most definitely a plug.
