I bit the bullet and bought a new one. Over $500 after shipping. I was hoping they would have improved it, but nope, it is still the same poor design. I JB welded my old one and it lasted another year, but broke at the hinge mounts again. Did you try fiberglass?

I had the same crappy tail lights on my Mahindra eMax and my lenses melted also. I decided new lenses would probably also melt, so I replaced the lights with a set of LED trailer lights from Harbor Freight (Item #64275). Only about $32 with 20% off coupon.
