I have replaced 2 bearings on my L4400 in 600 hrs. Same side.. Looks almost identical to your bearings. I did alot of heavy loader work in the past, and assume that caused it. In my service manual the retainer ring is 2 pieces I think.

I agree Harry. like conventional oils, there's a vast difference in synthetics. After some research, I used Lucas Oil. It was about $100 for 2 gallons, but in the end, I think it's cheap insurance.
Well, I'd say it was the bearing!! It took the seal with it, and scratched the heck out of the axle too! I only worked about 2 hours after I noticed the leak. But I must say, it was pretty easy to replace.
After a very frustrating attempt to back a 4 wheel wagon load of firewood, I noticed the front axle leaking inside of the wheel. I had it in 4WD for a short while because the back end was sliding on wet grass, and may have cranked the wheel all the way to one side and goosed it a little too...
Somehow, during a fence row clean out, I lost the wire hook that holds the 3 point top link up when no implement is on the tractor. I have looked at the Kubota parts website, and find no part number for one. I even have the service manual, and it makes no mention of a hook.
