    Darn! Great restaurant closing! :-(

I'm sure rising costs have made it REALLY hard on the restaurant business. Especially one that prized itself on serving good food at a reasonable price.

    What's your shop project?

Right now we are stripping and refinishing 3 existing doors in our house. They are the original doors from 1955 and look like heart pine, the wood is gorgeous! They had maybe shellac on them My wife is doing the chemical stripping and the initial sanding with 80 grit. I am doing the final...

Dog Hair - Read at your own risk!

Yep, this cutie is worth it!! We are not sure if she is full blooded heeler, but everything about her is 100% heeler. This pic is funny. She loves her mama and my wife was out of town here. That post-it note is something my wife was writing poetry on a couple days before. She either went on...

Dog Hair - Read at your own risk!

HaHaHa!! I see what you did there!!!! You think these things would be bald with all the shedding! Yep that is only the floor. One of our couches is leather so most of it goes between the cushions or on the floor. The other is fabric with a cover on it, it sticks to that. I take it outside...

Dog Hair - Read at your own risk!

Doing an addition and a mostly complete remodel of the existing is a wonderful reset for a house. This house was completely empty and cleaned top to bottom just 10 months ago. Our new house is 100% hardwood floors (except the 3 bathrooms) with zero thresholds between rooms ,a large portion of...

    Winter 2025-2026 Prediction

This is the first time I have watched one of these videos. It is interesting how he supports his claims. It will be interesting to see if there is any truth to this. Whatcha think?

    Pond dredging

I have a pond that is getting shallower by the year. I would like to do this some day, but it is very low on the priority list.

Weed wacker - extending string life

I have never really come up with an exact measurement I use but lets say about 15 or 16 inches.

Weed wacker - extending string life

I would say 3 or 4 inches stays inside the head and then maybe replace it when only 1 or 2 inches sticks out on either side so you might be wasting 5-8 inches at replacement . Not the end of the world but a little more than I would like.

    2025: Year of the Tick

Had my worst tick encounter of the year Sunday. Had 3 wake me up crawling on me in the bed, then the next day found one lightly imbedded in my head. Put our comforter in the dryer and found 1 dead in the dryer afterwards. Sunday morning I took my dog for a hike (she sleeps in the bed) then I...

Weed wacker - extending string life

I use the Fixcut head from Stihl. It is a bit of a PITA to load the way I do it in a 4 line config. Looking it up it seems like there are numerous ways to load it that are not as much as a PITA. It wastes a bit of string but in the grand scheme of things no biggie. I use .155 string in it so...

    Help deciding on a grapple.

I have the smallest single lid grapple MTL makes and I have no complaints. I was able to go pick it up which helped save on shipping. I really think you can't go wrong on a grapple for a tractor that big. For smaller ones you need to balance weight with durability. With a 100 hp tractor that...
