    Oily Clutch!

Kinda late answer but if you go through the trouble of a split, there is not too much additional cost to remove the big spline and replace the bearings and the seals. If you don't, oil seeps into you clutch pack and you are splitting the tractor again. I don't hink it cost me even $400 to...

For sale $2000 or best offer 53' Ford jubilee stirring column is out, that's the only thing wrong otherwise she's an heck of a work horse!

I paid $3800 a few years ago for a Ford 3600 diesel with 2100 hours with a finishing mower and a bushhog. That model has power steering, 12V electrics, and actually starts when you need it to start. I am not personally experienced with Jubilee era but every time I hear the phrase "gasoline...

"I KNOW WHAT I GOT..DUNT LOWBALL MEH!" Said every boomer ever trying to unload something tired for the same price as new.

Stuck in gear until engine is off, Ford 3600

Friends, I read this thread. How a clutch plate of friction material fuses to a flywheel with rust is a mystery to me. I am an idiot and more than that I have a certification in it. Henry took this in mind when he designed the 3600. It is stupid simple and anvil tough. The Ford 3600 clutch and...

Tractor for land clearing and preparation

I would not buy a tractor to do initial clearing work. It is possible but slow and even a big stump jumper is not able to do everything, and I have done about 8000 sq. feet of heavy clearing in N. Georgia hardwood forest so I know 1st hand. I used a chainsaw and a bushhog with 40 PTO HP and it's...

First time buyer 35-50 hp and implements

My thought is a used tractor. A Ford 4000SU or 4000 if you are using a FEL due to the robustness of the front axle. The Ford 3600 has less front axle but can take an FEL. These are 50 year old tractors but parts are still available at a good price because they are revered by Punjabi farmers, so...

    Dealer Service

I had to split my tractor to repair a $1 freeze plug. I decided to rebuild the dual clutch and replace seals and bearings. One of the clutch arm's hardware was broken so the pressure was not equal but no FW damage. I fixed it and all of the other little gremlins and wiring and main cables for...

    Ford 4000 Pricing and Advice

Oh yeah - this price is a steal with the 2nd engine. If it's knocking, it has a spun bearing or a main bearing. In terms of cost, that's not a expensive fix, not like having a some bad gears. $4000 is a very good price, the loader alone is $2000.

    Ford 4000 Pricing and Advice

Personally, I wouldn't have a gasser, but you are in Michigan..it saves you from wondering if the injection pump is okay because a gasser would not have one. Any injection pump is an expensive fix relative to other fixes. 4000 has a front axle that is ideal for a loader, I always am suspect of...

Still not dead, so made a boom pole

Did not happen yet. Dog said: "That woman you conned into matrimony, she's still hopeful about your demise by accident. Quick payout of claims. It's the only thing keeping her alive."

Still not dead, so made a boom pole

I did that sir. Thank you for this idea. I use an insert with a clevis to lower items out of my truck.

Need advice on a larger chainsaw for an older guy.

I am just about your age. I have a 20 year old 026 that I bought when I had less land in the burbs and I use more firewood now for heat when I can. My 026 was a fine saw for homeowner use but it made the work take longer. I had been looking to get another saw to help the 026...not...

    1951 8n rear rim change

I got a rim from some outfit that makes them in Northern Iowa. "Titan" I think. They shipped it to me. I had the calcium too and boy oh boy was it nasty. Bleached the concrete on contact. I just have a 2nd helping all winter to make of for the loss of ballast.

    ford 4000 transmission input shaft

Nothing should be "loose" or floppy. Remove the throw-out bearing & carrier and the fork that connects the carrier to the clutch pedal via the shaft connected to the pedal. You may want to replace the throw-out bearing as long as you are split. Remove the 5 bolts for the support tube around the...

Ford 3600 coolant leak near starter - how to split

So I did complete the split. Put in two new clutch plates, did the rear seals and PTO input seal/bearing. Spent a lot of time to adjust the clutch fingers and pedal adjustment, works great. I replaced the seals for the steering and the old seal plastic was so hard, they were really difficult to...
