My dad always had a hammer, duct tape and vicegrips. Said you could fix anything with those. But I have found a working fire extinguisher is also VERY helpful.
I had a tilt bed and loved it .... most of the time. As you said, the only drawback was not being able to load something on it before putting my tractor on. But the ease of getting the tractor on and off was great, and no ramps to mess with. Considering your needs, it sounds like you would be...
Has anyone had much luck smoothing out a rough field?
I have a 12 acre field that had been plowed when I got it and then they guy tried to disc it when it was muddy. Left it a bone-jarring mess to drive on.
I've had someone come in and disc it again and then drag it. It helped some (the largest...
You are right. A tractor makes life easier (especially for old guys like me). But just a warning about lifting things to work on them ... there have been 2 people (in the past 2 years) in my county alone that have died pinned under something held up by their tractor. One, the chain hook broke...
This thing works great! It's also great on gravel drives! I love mine.

If you have a hydro, crawl under and look up at the pedals to make sure there are no sticks or rocks stuck in the little switch there. It'll run while it's jammed, but won't restart once you shut if off. Had it happen so many times that I bypassed that switch.
I think this might be a good incentive for JD and others to bring jobs back to the US. As for parts, they used to be made in the US as well until NAFTA encouraged world trade and had companies shopping for cheap labor across the globe.
I would love to have an indicator showing I'm in 4WD (like my truck). But I would rather have a sensor in the transfer case showing it's actually engaged rather than just showing the lever is in the 4WD position. Issues with the linkage could have the lever in the right position, but the tractor...
Careful hooking to a tree. I had the same problem and the dealer warned me it could damage the shaft inside and the whole rear would have to be removed. They came out and got it off for me.
I would think the increase in hogs would disrupt much of the habitat for the ground dwellers. Lightning bugs seem to be disappearing all over the place, but most pollinators are also. Quail is another one that is on the decline in many areas. More and more people are raising quail to release...
I used my landscape rake for that for a while. But then I got this heavy duty dethatcher from Good Works Tractors. It works much better and is also better at maintaining my gravel driveway and cleaning out the goat pen...
I have a similar thing. I mostly use it to move my 3pt stuff out of the way when mowing the field. Saves a lot of time.
I also put my field rake on it when cleaning out the goat pen. It's easier to maneuver on the front.
