The last 2 stumps (for this particular project) came out Friday. 🥳 One came out in 4 pieces. Oh, and check out those LEDs! Borrowed the neighbors box scrape and graded the area a little better than it was. Amazingly, I was able to fill in the stump holes just by moving some dirt around... no...

    Canopy for SA series?

Hey gang.Sorry if this is already answered (I looked)but are there any recommendations or reviews for canopies that fit the SA 424? This sun is hot already and my arms are red. I’ve been online to check out the rhino canopy, and while I do like it’s quick disconnect feature, I do not like the...

Yeah the plan was to drill enough holes to weaken it for a few good licks with the sledgehammer but this idea failed. I decided to use the backhoe to scrape at the roots and the edge of the rock and in about 10 minutes it fell free. Not the 400lbs I first though but still large enough. And...

More digging. As I thought... this stump is growing around two very large rocks. Iced exposed a lot more Rick and found 2 more roots to cut. After that, a 3:1 pull for good measure. Out came the stump, still clinging to a rock I’m estimating at around 400lbs. We now have to get the rock out of...

Decided to give burning a try after more digging, cutting and a 3:1 pull yielded not even a “wiggle” from what I now call “Devil Stump”. 🤬 While I do enjoy a [emoji91] and got most of the dead stuff laying around the edge of my property picked up and burned with the stump, and the end of a 2...

The current stump is a bit of a challenge. Granted it’s the largest so far, but I keep finding big roots and on a 2:1 hookup today it didn’t even wiggle. This particular root is amazing. It is 3 roots growing together and wrapping around a rock in the process. Hoping to get a video of this...

To answer the question regarding Backhoe vs tools, for me personally it’s a factor of time and space. These stumps are in my immediate backyard and I’m on a time crunch to get them out in order to grade, seed and a host of other improvements I need to tackle in the next 2 weeks. The backhoe is...

Well, the test was a miserable failure. DEFINITELY need outriggers on this contraption. It fell over repeatedly. My redesign included two more 4x4s which was enough wood to give me a very stable outrigger setup:

I went to Lowe’s and bought a few 4x4s and bolted them together with threaded rod. The middle one is cut 6” short to and capped with a metal plate to provide a channel for the chain/strap to be kept in and no worry of it slipping off. Tomorrow it will get tested.

Week one of my new Yanmar SA424, my wife has me pulling out 8 stumps from an area she hopes to garden. The first 3 were the smallest, maybe 6-8” diameter. I did all 3 of those last Saturday. The 4th was a good one... about 16” diameter. I had to dig down pretty deep to cut all the roots I could...

    Bucket Hooks  Ken’s Bolt-On Hooks

Got my Bolt-on hooks and Clevis mounts in the mail today from Ken and MAN are these well done. The welding is amazing and the finish really speaks quality. Got them bolted on my SA424 bucket last night and I am VERY impressed. Thanks Ken!

SA324 or SA424... need a decision... buying THIS week

Loving my 424 guys! Played around with it this weekend to learn the ropes a little. Dug up 3 stumps and moved 1000lbs of rock at least. Glad I got the tooth at installed prior to delivery. That is a great accessory. Got Kens Bolt-on hooks delivered and installed today.
