My tranny is getting up to 225F during mowing with a belly mower. Outside is only 75Fish.
What are some things that would cause a hydrostatic transmission get that hot?
Yes, I believe it's partly that.. and partly that there is about 5-10 degrees of slop in the bolt hole that holds the slip clutch onto the gear box input shaft. Not sure if that is designed that way or if it's because I bought a used rotary cutter. But that also rotates that extra 5-10 degrees...
Other than maybe having to shorten the PTO shaft, and the safety concern of the implement drifting to a stop are there any other negatives to using an overrun coupler?
Would be on a JD2305 sub-compact. I'd like to put as little stress on my tractor tranny as possible, and the rotary cutter I...
Did some more looking.. seems like the bolt hole in the input shaft has a LOT of slop allowing quite a bit of play. I think that would contribute to the bump noise. Seems they don't sell just the input shaft or I'd try and replace that.
Blade bolts and gear box bolts are tight..
Going to...
Never used a rotary cutter before.. Bought a used rc2048 for my JD2305. Got it all cleaned and lubed up and gave it a short test (didn't cut anything). Didn't sound too bad starting up or running, but when I turned it off there was quite a 'thump'. As it says in the manual, I lowered the...
Just got a used RC 2048 for my JD 2305. Never used one before so just checking that my thinking is right... I have the 'rockshaft lever' and 'rockshaft rate of drop control lever'.
Am I wrong in saying there is really no way to limit the rear arms from dropping their full extent? In other...
Yep.. after talking with the dealer driveline shortening seems the way to go. Picked up a lightly used 2018 RC2048 cutter yesterday at a little over $1k less than a new one..
I have a JD 2305 and am looking at getting a RC2048 rotary cutter.. I looked at the manual for the cutter and it said the imatch is required to 'facilitate driveline length'..
I have no other rear implements... so hate to pay $400 for an imatch. Anyone have luck with any of the spin-offs?
Thanks!
So yes, the 2305 doesn't have a transmission oil cooler. I did just change the oil and used low viscosity (probably go to regular) since it doesn't get that hot here (or I don't mow when it's real hot) and I use it in the winter. The fan blades are in good shape, the fan is securely mounted...
It's about 80F outside and just got done mowing 7 acres.. The transmission felt hot so I hit it with the IR thermometer (had been off for 5 mins or less by the time I found the gun) and got a max temp of 205F. Is that within 'normal' range for that amount of work, or running too hot?
I resurrect thee again!!
I just got under my 2305 (600hrs) to lube the driveshaft and noticed some play where the yoke goes on to the transmission spline. U-joints are fine.. Doing some googling it looks like that play just keeps getting worse till it causes bad vibrations and accelerates the...
Anyone have a lead on where to get an air filter clip? There are two of them that hold the cover on the air filter canister. JD says I have to buy the whole canister...
Hi all.
I'm coming up on my 200hr maintenance and now that I have a little more understanding of the tractor I have a question. When I did the 50hr maintenance the local JD shop talked me into low viscosity hy guard.. but now I see in the manual (OMLVU23228_B0) that it says they put the...
I love my 2305, but my biggest gripe so far about it is the piece of angle iron that rests on the left rear arm of the 3pt hitch that is used to lift the mmm. Seems like it's always slipping off (I know, improper adjustment)..
My question is, is there a reason/purpose this is a piece of angle...
