    Tire options

I have similar tires on my Ventrac 4500Y. The first pair (factory-installed) lasted ten years. The second pair (installed by my Ventrac dealer) are now coming up on one year old. The tires have performed well. Most of my use entails mowing on slopes and moving snow. I have never lost...

    Compact sub compact?

    I love my Ventrac 4500Y.

    Offered another unusual project

It might seem strange to people in Eastern and MidWestern States... it certainly seemed strange to me when I first read about it... but restrictions on capturing or changing the natural flow of rainwater are common in the arid West... and not just in California. A whole body of law has evolved...

Tractor hard to start in cold

The above is an extract of a very good and comprehensive post by John_Mc. (Not me.) The one thing that I would add is that, if one gets a low-voltage reading while cranking the engine, the significance of that reading depends upon exactly where one is taking the reading. If the battery is...

Tractor hard to start in cold

That link does not work for me. It triggers a 404 error Message ("Page Not Found"). However, this one does work for me.

    Antifreeze help please?

I may have overlooked something, but I did not see any mention of antifreeze changes in the Owner's Manual supplied with my Ventrac Model 4500Y. Is there a specified change interval? (I have used a hydrometer and a voltmeter to test the health of the antifreeze in my Model 4500Y.)

    Best subcompact for the money

I decided to get a Ventrac 4500Y (with a Kubota Diesel engine) to deal with my mowing, snow clearing, and other needs. As another forum member wrote early in this thread, a Ventrac will not do everything that a CUT will do, but what it does do, it does excellently and safely, so long as you...

Small Tractor reco - Primarily for snowblowing long drive

My Ventrac 4500Y generates 25 hp, and that seems adequate to the task. The front-mounting snow-blower attachment that is designed to work with the tractor is 52 inches wide and is a two-stage unit. It can throw snow anywhere between 25 and ~ 75 feet, depending upon the consistency of the snow...

Small Tractor reco - Primarily for snowblowing long drive

A zero-turn near a stream or pond embankment can all too easily turn into a death sentence. A fellow who mows my neighbors' lawn lost one of his best friends in exactly that fashion. My property has much to much in the way of slopes to ever allow me to use a zero-turn. However, the hinged...

Small Tractor reco - Primarily for snowblowing long drive

My driveway, which is approximately 500 metres long, is paved. In certain spots, it needs repaving. It also has three fairly steep slopes. The steepest slope is 14° (~ 24%), and contains an S-curve.

Avoiding fuel contamination from solids and such

I'm interested in acquiring one of these. I would appreciate it if anyone who has fitted one of these filters to a Ventrac would provide a link to the specific product, or the name of the manufacturer and the model number of the filter.

    P.S. – My driveway is ~ 500 metres long.

Small Tractor reco - Primarily for snowblowing long drive

A Ventrac 4500Y (with 25-hp Kubota Diesel engine) was exactly the path that I took, after receiving a lot of good advice in this forum (especially from Jack W.). I have never regretted it. I have the HB580 rotary-broom attachment and the KX523 snowblower attachment to deal with snow. I have...

Anyone have a solution to eradicating moles ??

We have installed two of these: <Mole Chasing Windmill>, in one section of our property. To install the windmills, we used steel pipes rather than grounding rods. (The instructions suggested using the latter.) When the blades are turning, the device makes a rattling sound that gets conducted...
