Short term Fuel starvation after changing Fuel filter

The operator's manual says the system is self-bleeding and to just crank the starter. I have purchased the technical manual, but did not look in it because the operator's manual seemed complete. Now that I have looked on p. 57 it says how to manually bleed if necessary, but nothing about the...

Thanks for the help. I didn't know about bleeding or how to do it.

Short term Fuel starvation after changing Fuel filter

When I change the fuel filter on my 2305, the engine starts fine and runs fine for 10-15 seconds and then stalls out. Then it takes 6-8 attempts with lots of cranking, rough running, and stalling to get it to run after that. Then it runs fine. Any hints about avoiding that?

    2007 JD 2305 Driveshaft lubrication

Thanks for letting me know. I've been using the 90 degree tip, too. I looked at the channellock snap ring pliers and thought they might not fit in the narrow space so I didn't buy them. Looks like I will be cutting it off. Thanks for the tip on the roll pin!

    2007 JD 2305 Driveshaft lubrication

What brand of Snap ring pliers did you use? I had another nameless set that would not work, so I bought the harbor freight set. I've been working on getting the snap ring off for 2 hours. I can expand the ring - did it at least 50 times - but when I try to slide the ring forward to the engine...

JD 2305 Main Drive Shaft U-Joints

Thanks. I am able to turn the flywheel by hand to get the zerks lined up. there is not enough clearance for the grease gun tip to go over the zerk. I do have a standard hand operated pistol grip gun with a 1' flexible hose on the gun. Maybe the nozzle on the electric gun is narrower.

JD 2305 Main Drive Shaft U-Joints

Thanks everyone for the info. I have to be out of town for a few days, so that will be on the list when I get back. I did get another set of snap ring pliers that I think will work.

JD 2305 Main Drive Shaft U-Joints

I just found out on this forum about the horror stories when these joints fail. I baby my tractor, but I never knew these zerks even existed, even though I read the manual from cover to cover. Now I find out that they should be lubed every 50 hours. I have over 1100 hours on this machine. I...

JD 2305 hydraulic selective control valve lever is locked

Thanks! That did it. I've never touched that lever and I forgot it was there. I have no idea as to how it was moved. Wonderful help here from this forum!

JD 2305 hydraulic selective control valve lever is locked

Just changed the Hydraulic fluid and filter 16 hours ago. The hydrostatic transmission works normally and the 3 point hitch works fine. Power steering is fine. The mid-mount mower deck is raised and lowered with the lever on the right side. It worked normally a few days ago, but now the lever...

mower deck pto box lube button

I just took the deck off the JD 2305 to clean it and sharpen the blades and got to thinking about the push button on the gear box. Thinking does not work as well as it used to, so I have this basic question. How does that thing work? When I got this tractor - my first - about a...

    Trapping mice by launching them

When we moved into our new house, the builder left a small gap around the Bilco door entrance. I didn't even notice it until I saw that we had some mice in our poured concrete basement. I sealed it up and used spring traps and glue traps and got rid of them. Later, we caught a mouse in the...

caster wheels or gage wheels available?

Is it possible to attach caster wheels or gage wheels to a JD landscape rake? Can you get them from Tractor supply? I used that rake a lot last summer, and it did a great job, but wheels seem like they would help, and I have a lot more work for the rake this spring and summer. PS - I did a...

    Care of Septic Tank

We have lived with city sewage for years, but now we have a new house with a new septic tank and leach field. Mostly, it is my wife and myself, but occasionally we may have as many as 15 guests staying for a few days. The soil here tends to clay, so it might not pass a perc test, but our...
