how to build your own custom backhoe subframe

Oh, and yes the ROPS gets in the way if you use the chair. Next up is extending the OEM ROPS up 12 inches and putting a folding plate system in as well at the 2 ft mark on the existing ROPs.

how to build your own custom backhoe subframe

Sorry for the long delay. I finished the backhoe subframe. It's a woods bh650 to B2400. I ended up using part of a woods subframe for a b7800 I think and then extended it to my existing FEL as it has some brackets already welded on that worked great (see pic). I used 3x1.5 channel in 1/4 for...

I agree dfkrug, thanks for replying. So the weight of the hoe will be on the lower 3 pt arm(s) axel/rod, right next to the steel frame that also holds the ROPs as this is where the subframe in designed to mount. See picture below

B2400 to Woods 650 BH, using BH6500 subframe from woods (modified). OK, I have back half of the woods subframe stuck on the b2400 rear end. As you can see in the photos it is short of FEL bracket by about 26 inches. It actually lines up with the Kubota Subframe cross bracket but I don't want...

how to build your own custom backhoe subframe

I could, I have it. Not sure if it has been repaired or just a bad weld the hoe end. See pictures. My mig can't melt that thick of stuff, but I do have access to a stick. Just thought since I had the steel I could make a better one. But in the end that might not be necessary as much of the...

how to build your own custom backhoe subframe

Update on B2400 sub frame project. I have mounted the OEM sub frame stiffener 4681 on the B2400 (see pic below). I will post a few pics of this as well as the HD toplink later as finding the data on the 4681 OEM kit is getting harder as time goes on. I decided to mount the OEM stiffener first...

how to build your own custom backhoe subframe

Found it I think... It's a woods bh6500 subframe kit number 9267. It appears it might use a bracket instead of the two tabs on my frame. I tied to test fit it on my b2400 and the rear pin fitment is really tight, but will work. The front connection point is not compatible with the B2400...

how to build your own custom backhoe subframe

Anyone see this kind of subframe before? I still can not find out who made it (Woods? Kubota?) and if there are inherent weakness to this design. I can modify it to strengthen this style once I know of any issues it may have. I plan to use it with a reinforced toplink and HD toplink bracket...

how to build your own custom backhoe subframe

Major Update: backhoe secured. I got a great deal on a BH650-2 Woods backhoe. Included pump. And not advertised but installed was a sub frame for I think an old B7100. And to my shocking surprise it fits my B2400! I haven't seen this idea before so I am posting pictures. It is unbolted...

how to build your own custom backhoe subframe

And yet another interesting idea that I don't know I agree with. In this video () their subframe connects to the 3 point arm housing. They remove the 3 point arms and attach a plate to each side (where the arm slides off) that in turn bolts to the subframe. If the 3 point assembly area is...

how to build your own custom backhoe subframe

I just scored the Kubota frame reinforcement kit B4681 for my 2400 - the one that strengthens the frame on each side from the rear axle assembly to the FEL. New old stock in OEM box with all hardware and instructions. Also found the reinforced toplink housing bracket and now have it in the...

how to build your own custom backhoe subframe

Oops - I had that torque backwards. But the end result is the same whether its the front or back that gets let down quickly. I can also see the issue with driving around - good idea to stick to the BT600-603 units as they are very light compared to most (just 630 pounds without bucket I...

how to build your own custom backhoe subframe

Question: when people say that backhoes improperly supported can brake a tractor in half (between rear housing and engine housing), what force is causing that? My assumption is it is a situation where the backhoe is pulling down (digging) and hits a rock/root that stops the bucket so the force...

how to build your own custom backhoe subframe

LouNY, is a T rail two flats welded to make a T? If so I had not thought of that but it would be strong. I've got a 220v Hobart 180 which is good to 5/16... so that's going to be my limitation. Not sure a 5/16 flat stock is going to be strong enough, but assume a 5/16 channel would be. My hoe...

Haha - yeah that question was foo barred. I was asking how thick the channel steel needed to be, which you answered. I'm going to start looking around to see what I can get my hands on (not retail).
