    Trade up? Or not?

My Handler 175 quit feeding wire at 2:30 this afternoon. It has given me great service for the last 13 years. Of course, it happened while I was working on a trailer that has to go from Wisconsin to Virginia TOMORROW morning at 7:30 AM. Not my trailer, but I promised them it would be done by...

    Anyone bought chains this year?

I priced out chains for my Ford 850 this year. $775.00 for a set of 28x13.5. Is this now the going trend, or a spike for this year. I want to support my local dealer, but I can get them online for less than $550.00.

    72 Jeep J20

This might be a little off topic, but anyone had a 70's Jeep pickup with the AMC 360/3 speed combo. I have a chance to pick one up for $800.00. 5 new tires, and the front end was rebuilt 5 years ago. Only problem is I have to fix the frame under the cab, it rotted thru where the boxed portion is...

    Stole a chainsaw

I was offered a "new" 1984 Husqvarna 181 chainsaw by the farmer up the road this summer. Guess how much? Got it and a 28" bar/2 chains for $150.00. Had the carb rebuilt, and traded up on the bar to a 32"/pair of chains for another $125, so for $275, I now have an incrediable firewood saw. Quite...

    Vise grips

Don't know where else to post this, so here goes. I have wanted a 14" vise grips in the worst way forever. Has anyone else found that the largest, 10", that Irwin makes is just too small? Either can't open it quite big enough, or, when you put a cheater pipe on, you bend the screw, and it goes...

    repair of the evening

Was moving firewood up with the Ford 850, and at 9:00 this evening, the cast end on the tilt cyl snapped off. No one happens to be open this late, and I needed wood moved up to the wood boiler, as I had no time this weekend, and was out. Quick repair seems to be working well. Welded 2 fine...

    Questions on capacity of truck.

I have what I currently belive is an 84 GMC C 60. At least that is what the title and vin are for. That is what I was told it was when I bought it a few years back. I decided that since I got home in the daylight today, I would go to the local pit and get some TB for the driveway, as winter is...

My brother is looking for such a truck, and I know that they were sold in like 2004? What happened to them, and does anyone have any comments they would like to share as far as durability, etc?

    Smoky trouble

I have an 8N with a front distributor, not sure of the year. It has been loosing power over the past 3 years, but not to the point that I couldn't use it for what it needed to be used for. Today, I go and start it, It belches some black smoke, and cannot get out of it's own way. I had just...

    Whoops!

Another good reason to spend a day and a half in the shop away from everyone else. Had a full load (4 ton) on my 84 Dodge 350 cab and chassis, load stuck in the up position. Put her in low, and popped the clutch a little, and the back of the box hit the ground. Got a few dumb looks driving...

I have an opportunity to aquire a hydraulic pump from the front of a garbage truck. Does anyone know what pressure these flow? I have a splitter with a 7" x 48" cylendar on it. It currently runs with a 11 hp briggs engine and a 16 gpm pump. I want to install that massive pump attached to a Ford...
