change V to ^ with box scrapper?

I have a section of driveway made of the native decomposed shale that is higher on the sides than the middle, and I'm trying build up the middle and reduce the edges. I have a box scraper, which I'm just starting to use again, after first playing with it a year ago when I bought the tractor...

is FEL stronger pushing or pulling?

I have a L3400 with 463 FEL. If I have a choice of pushing or pulling with the bucket, which direction is stronger? Or does it make any difference to the FEL, the FEL mount, and the hydraulics?

    chain-attached grubbing "plow"?

chain-attached grubbing \"plow\"? Last week we took delivery on our first tractor, a 34hp Kubota L3400HST 4WD. One of the chores it does quite well is pulling out manzanita brush with a chain. This works well for larger brush which is 4-8 ft tall and 10-20 years old -- and which is near level...

    kerosene as diesel fuel?

New owner of L3400 HST 4WD. I note that the fuel requirements are #1 or #2 diesel. Is #1 diesel the same as kerosene? We use kerosene for supplemental heat and it would be handy to have a single storage tank for heater and tractor. Are there any downsides to this approach? Thanks!

    QA adapter questions

I'm seriously considering the 3015HST with FEL. Is a Mahindra Quick Attach Adapter on the FEL a worthy addition to this tractor? If I don't buy it with the tractor, can I add it later? I'm assuming that you have to buy one half of it for each implement you will be attaching. Is that how it...

    2615HST vs 3015HST

Finally got to drive the 2615HST and the 3015HST at the Mahindra dealer. Wow! Very impressed. Big tires, lots of ground clearance, and power on the FEL. The major differences between the two are the FEL and the engines. About $2200 difference in cost. I'm leaning towards the 3015HST because...

tell-tale signs of good vs bad dealer?

OK, so I want to buy a tractor to help do the chores my wife and I have been doing (or not doing) by hand for the past decade. Everyone on this board says that the quality of the dealer is really important. How do I, as first-time tractor shopper, recognize a good dealer from a dud? What are...

    BX24 vs B21 TLB ?

In order to get a sense of whether a new BX24 would suit my purposes, I'm considering renting a B21 TLB for a day and running it through the various tasks I want a tractor to do on my property. Are there any substantial differences that a novice like myself would notice between these two...

    was the shipping painless?

Aside from the cost, how painless was the shipping experience from VA to your home? (Ever since having a family car shipped across country by a car transport service I'm leary of trucking services. My car-shipping experience was like combining the worst elements of dealing with used car dealers...

    has your PT spilled gas?

In the arid West fire safety is always a concern. For that reason my preference is generally for diesel tractors, but the gas-powered PT appear to have an edge in price and ease of maintenance -- especially since there is no dealer available to pick up the PT for service. Anyone have...

    what's PT underside like?

what\'s PT underside like? What is the underside of the PT425 or PT1430 like? Anything to catch or get hung up on when going over rough ground or brush? Anyone know the minimum ground clearance? Thanks!

    PT technique: ditches?

I'm trying to visualize how to clear a ditch along a forest road (my driveway). How is this done with a PT, in particular when the ditch is against an uphill bank? Maintaining my gravel road would be one recurring chore I'd want to do with a new tractor. Thanks!

    Rogue Valley OR PT enthusiasts?

Any PT owners on the I-5 corridor south of Roseburg who would be willing to share their PT experience with me? Looking for a nimble tractor to maintain my gravel road, clear manzanita brush from 5, 10, 20 percent slopes, and do small grading projects. While just about any SCUT could do the...
