    Vaping, wow!

Sometimes kids just do stupid things on their own and choose some form of foolishness to prove their autonomy. I’ve seen it happen to some really good parents. I was man sized as a teenager and nobody was going to make me do anything I didn’t want to do without a fight. It wasn’t my parent’s fault.

Future of HVAC and industry supply issues.

That’s a good catch. The extra fuse in the bottom won’t help if the feeders blow. Does the new unit have Carlyle recips in it like the old one did?

That new unit cost probably seems like a bargain now after paying $800 a day for the substitute. What about you? I seem to recall earlier in this thread that you were considering hanging it all up if they decided to move. Now that they’ve committed to 15 years and dropped in some new...

That has to be a relief. Are you all back to normal operations now? Did anyone ever total up all the rental and fuel costs for the temporary setup?

    L3540 hydro power questions

I know others have already mentioned checking the valve clearances? At 1400 hours there’s a decent chance they are out of spec and could adversely affect performance. Also the soot plug in the exhaust is worth a check too if you haven’t. I don’t have that machine but I would expect there to be a...

Future of HVAC and industry supply issues.

Wow, that’s a tough break. Did you end up finding a different contractor/supplier than the one you normally used? Did you see the shipping damages? Sometimes stuff gets dropped off the trailer or run through by a fork truck beyond repair, and sometimes stuff can get rejected for issues that...

    Student Loan Debt?

That sounds like how it’s supposed to happen. I’m concerned the 18 year old I’m working with now is too emotionally driven by wants to methodically make the best decisions. I know it’s common for his age, but it’s still amazing where his head can go sometimes.

    Student Loan Debt?

I spent a week in and around St. Louis at the end of March and I was surprised at how much sprawl has happened heading west. It’s just miles of people, stores, and Amazon facilities.

    Student Loan Debt?

I’ve seen that too. The increased tax rate goes to fund the police/fire and then a chunk of the previous general fund allocation is reappropriated for other purposes that weren’t on the ballot. Local politicians are training for a bigger stage and need to get their practice.

    Student Loan Debt?

His senior year has been a very expensive one. We’ve probably invested more time and money into positioning him where he wants to be than many of you would agree with. But, I legitimately feel like I’m gonna be saving money next year after looking over my wife’s spreadsheets of our expenses.

    Student Loan Debt?

It’s been a long wait for the feds to process a fafsa. After 7 or 8 weeks of waiting they kicked back the first submission because my son inadvertently placed a comma in the wrong spot in our address. So it had to be fixed and resubmitted. The real costs for my son’s top four schools range...

    Attached GARAGE (homeowner) thoughts

10’ wide x 9’ high work well for my truck and 3500 van. 10’ wide is also the minimum to allow my boat and utility trailer to back in with some clearance, and there are times that I park them in the garage for different purposes.

Should have listened to Hay Dude…lol. New massey 5711 3 point hitch gone wacky.

My 2007 F150 was having faults on 5 different sensors and it turned out to be a wire issue within the main harness. Vibration, age, corrosion, heat, poor routing or something else affected common wiring those sensors shared. Ended up just sistering new wires along side the harness and...

You Know You Are Old When

My dad was not the one that any of us wanted to do the cooking. He was born into the depression and WW2 highlighted his early teens. Then Uncle Sam sent him overseas for a couple years of culinary desensitization during the Korean War. He could eat anything at room temperature out of a can or...

Need advice regarding a "city boy" coming to rural property

One of these will help develop the shoulders, back, core and forearms too. Splitting with one was my favorite part of growing up with wood heat.
