Looking for the right Rake Grapple

Thanks, md. I've looked at (on paper) Homestead's Utility version of that grapple as an alternative to EA's Wicked 66, because of the long lead time at EA. It looks to be quite stout, but they warn against certain uses that EA appears to actually encourage in their videos. I think you'll be...

Looking for the right Rake Grapple

Thanks for the info, Ted. And not to give you a hard time, but why would you replace DOM with Hardox channel on 55 and 60 but not the 66? I know the DOM is super-thick, but it was that way on the 55 and 60, too, and your video said that the channel was 3x stronger than the DOM. Don't deprive...

Looking for the right Rake Grapple

Travis, that Wickeder channel must really increase the rigidity of the teeth. I'd be a little concerned about scooping dirt in it when forward raking, but only a little. Is that feature available on all models -- how about 66"?

    Looks very effective, Citydude.

    EA Attachments vs Homestead Implements

Not for compacts, but HI's Utility version uses 1/2" Hardox (though not doubled/laminated at digging point, which, I believe, combines for 3/4" for EA, but only at engagement points). HI also has gusseted teeth (which might make up for the non-lam), four hinge points, and larger cylinders (3" x...

    EA Attachments vs Homestead Implements

I looked at (on paper) the Jenkins. The Grade 50 steel is nowhere near as durable as the AR450 while weighing tremendously more.

Looking for the right Rake Grapple

If fabricating myself, I might be inclined to try to make it in two sections so that the upper portion could easily be removed to clear the lights, but there would be no reason to remove the lower (or upper, if not needing lights) -- seems protection wouldn't hurt with loader bucket, pallet...

Looking for the right Rake Grapple

Well, I researched and decided on an EA Wicked 66", which is the right size for my tractor, and called them to place the order. They said the lead time would be 4 MONTHS! I was looking forward to having this unit but did not expect that, and I really do not want to lose an entire season of...

Looking for the right Rake Grapple

I've seen custom grill guards online for Deere, Kubota and Kioti, by model number, but nothing for the Mahindra I'm contemplating. I'll either have to fab from scratch or find a generic one to modify. (I haven't seen a generic yet.)

Looking for the right Rake Grapple

To the EA Wicked owners: I didn't have it in my list of anticipated tasks, but how is it for bucking? Does the shorter lower jaw cause issues?

Looking for the right Rake Grapple

Love that grill guard oosik! Did you fab it or buy it? (If the latter, please share link if possible.) That grapple looks like a beast. I'm going to check it out.

Looking for the right Rake Grapple

Good tip and warning, thanks. Per my response to nyone, above, I want to be able to reach in somewhere and drag back. I suppose I could just grab and pull, but I wanted more of a rake effect.

Looking for the right Rake Grapple

In some situations, I want to be able to reach into the woods edge, for example, and drug stuff out. There will be cases where I cannot get behind the limbs/brush/debris to push into it.

Looking for the right Rake Grapple

The way I want to use it is to open the jaws all the way, curl it down all the way and lower it so that the tips of the top tines just touch the ground, pull back to rake, then go forward with grapple curled back up to lift and remove the raked pile. Mostly limbs and debris. Any suggestions...

    Need Suggestions for 45 HP

Yes, I do have a W terminal, and I have a frequency counter somewhere, if I can find it after moving several times. Thanks for the wealth of info.
