    New tractor

Yes, I will be driving over my grass often to get to various projects. I hired out some tree work, he had brand new tractor with R1. He felt bad about damage and offered to come back in winter.

    New tractor

The R4 has stronger sidewalls, better for the loader work I do. I am only working on my land, no going on roads. I don't remember seeing a cup holder, just a square-ish looking cubby by left calf. I could be wrong though, blinded by the shiny...

    Any mathmeticians here

Maybe I missed it, but why do you need the hose to reach every part? Unless you are hooking it to something, water spray will reach, lets say, 20' more or less than hose length. (water pressure dependant)

Used to do that when I turned wrenches, first step in checking for slight leaking head gasket. Heavy leakage looked like a mocha milkshake...

    New tractor

It only took 18 months of looking, debating in my head, researching, but I finally bought a tractor. Decided on new vs used, as all the low hour ones here weren't much of a bargain, and I wanted what I wanted, instead of "losing out" just to get a bargain. I got burned on my last used purchase...

    trail clearing technique and tools

I like to carry a steel cutter for my weed whacker as well as a circular disc chainsaw cutter for it as well. My steel cutter only has 4 cutters on it, and will only cut saplings up to about 1/2".

Another way to tell if you have moisture in oil, with engine hot, take dipstick out and let it drip on hot manifold. If it sizzles, there is moisture. Oil will just smoke/burn off.

    Brush hog safety chains

I had that though, but didn't think of cutting slits. I've used them on snowmobiles and they las longer than originals. Thanks.

    Diesel fuel #1 and #2

I've never seen #1 or #2 advertised as such, so no idea what I'm burning. Guess I'll have to walk in one day and ask...

    Brush hog safety chains

Thank you, it does make sense. I have limited experience, maybe 80 hours over 4 years. Started out clearing a yard and trails. That is where I hit things it was not made for, due to very uneven terrain. I'm at the point now where I'll be maintaining a previously hayed field, so very limited...

    Brush hog safety chains

What I'd be cutting is a hayfield and saplings. I've cut some of the unkept hayfield last year, tons of seed/chaffe plugging up radiator screen. Hoping to cut more often so it doesn't get to that point, dry and over grown. Time will tell how often, but the section I cut last year was about 6...

Belting does sound safer as well. I'd imagine if a link gets airborne, not safe...

The rear is missing the most. If I can get a better idea over chains, I'd do both. One of my thoughts was similar to yours, truck mudflap. Haven't thought about the design yet.
