I too removed the covers years ago. A stick found its way in there and I could see problems in the future. So easy to blow it clean w/o the covers on. I replaced one of the pulleys many moons ago and just used a snug but not too tight guide when putting tension on it. When running I don't want...
Since switching to e-free gas my 422 runs better, seems to use a bit less fuel than before and shuts down w/o a backfire...which previously happened a lot unless I let it run on low idle for at least 30 seconds before shutting down. Once when getting a refill a Mercedes owner told me that he...
Well, in hindsight I should have pulled the elbow fitting from the bottom of the tank yesterday because there was further debris in there. I was so sure the visible crud in the tank was the only problem. It's all good now.........Moss, que the songbirds and sunshine :)
Well, it ran for several minutes in the garage so thinking I had it licked I filled up and went to cut the grass. Only got about 100'....back to the drawing board.

Last time I cut the grass it was very hot and at the end of the job(1 hour) the 422 just stalled out. Started right up and ran a bit and stalled again, figured it was so hot that after an hour it vapor locked. But today I'm getting the same thing and it's very cool and the engine is cold too. It...
Ordered 2 keys online from NAPA for store pick up. Web site lead me to believe they would be in the store later that day but since I didn't get a confirmation email from them I called, was told won't be in until 2/4. Later the next day I happened to be passing a local outdoor gear shop and...
I procrastinated in getting a duplicte key made and now I may have to do something since it's been 2 days and my keys have not shown up. Are these keys unique to the tractor? Better yet, can the ignition switch be replaced with a push button type and eliminate the key?
That's the way I got convinced to get my 422. Mine is available to try out also and if you hit it on the right day I'll let you work the manure pile :)
