    Need trailer wood deck recommendation

I've had rough sawed hemlock on my trailer for over 10 years. Each spring it is given a rolled on coat of used Detroit Diesel oil. The same treatment in the fall. No sign of rot yet.

Share Pics of People Hauling or Towing Something Wrong

Battery polarity doesn't matter with most of the "Old" trailers. Brakes and lights will work either way. However, if you have LED lights polarity does matter. It won't hurt them, they just won't work with it reversed.

You Know You Are Old When

That price list is a bit newer than I remember. When we finally got one in town, burgers were .15, fries .10 and shakes were .25. You got change back from a dollar. But, minimum wage was $.65 an hour.

I don't have that "Safety Glasses" problem. Mine are prescription, so if I want to see at all, I'm wearing them.

I was a Sr. in school when JFK was shot. I thought "Rats, now we have Johnson for President."

You Know You Are Old When

I guess I'm too old to snow ski but, I skied today with two fellows that are still skiing at age 90 and 91. They have 13 years on me but that hasn't slowed them down. It's hard to argue with folks that have 80+ years of experience. I suppose I should keep going as long as I can.

What do you drive for a truck?

I do have a few vehicles that I use. The truck hauls my toys to shows and some digging projects. I've had it about 12 of it's 48 years. It doesn't see salt and spends the winter in the garage. I have about $4k into it. The camper turns 71 this year. I drag the car behind it, so I have...

What is the oddest machine you have worked on or operated

I worked in a mattress factory for a while. It was an education. I was fixing everything from sewing machines and surgers to quilters, fork lifts and tractor trailers. The ones that I hated to work on were quilters. They take two pieces of fabric about 7 feet across, merge stuffing between...

Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

I have an air powered 1/2" impact that I bought from HF when they were mail order only, about 1974. It still works and does the job. It puts out more torque than the 3/4" I bought from them 25 years ago. The 1" is a monster that will really give you a workout just carrying it. On 1.625"...

I'm not sure if this was just a local show, but how many remember Froggy the Gremlin and Midnight the Cat?

    GMC Crackerbox, a "fun" read.

Still running this one. 6V92 under the seat. I just wish it had power steering. Tight maneuvering is a bit of an exercise.

You Know You Are Old When

The eye opener is meeting a student that you had in Jr High and finding out he is a great grandfather. I seem to remember I didn't like him much then either.

    What's your average mpg?

My mileage with my car is good, '09 Fit - 38mpg. The other vehicles not so much, 1953 4104 GMC - 10mpg and 1976 White - 9mpg. Figuring those last two are over 20k empty I would guess that isn't tooooooo bad.

    Caterpillar T50E Cylinder Removal

It doesn't hurt to disconnect the battery. If somebody tries to start the machine and move the controls you could have oil all over the place.
