    Florescent Lighting Bans?

Pretty much the way it is here too. Recyclable stuff (#1 & 2 plastic, cardboard, newspaper, mixed paper, aluminum & steel cans & glass) is free to drop off. Likewise metal. Household trash must be in special trashbags which can be purchased at the transfer station or town hall. "Demolition"...

    How long should things last?

Ours is an LG, we've had it 5-6 years now, it's been trouble free. Just a basic model, no icemaker, water dispenser, etc. I make ice the old fashioned way. We do make sure to clean the dust off the coils once a year.

What is some of your Pet Peeve's

Ever try to rent a tool at HD? Some sort of "security" BS...they send a text message with a link to a ap that you must install in order to prove you are who you say you are or something like that. Last fall I needed to rent a stump chipper, called & verified they had one available. Got there...

    Florescent Lighting Bans?

I get lamps and batteries, but what are you supposed to do with that other stuff? I didn't know felt tip pens were recyclable.

No disrespect meant, but do you ever throw anything away? :ROFLMAO: I thought I was bad. You must need a warehouse to store all this stuff!

Weed wacker - extending string life

First one of those cutters i bought, brand name was Grass Gator. Deceptive name, as you noted, it would constantly get wrapped if you tried to use it on grass, was a lot better for thicker stuff like blackberry bushes, goldenrod, etc. It would cut woody stuff up to 1/4" or so.

What is it with all the distracted driver lately.

I've seen something similar around crosswalks. Don't know what, if any safety advantage there is, but I'm sure the highway dept. just loves having to plow around them in the winter.

Weed wacker - extending string life

A little OT, but does the OP's spool have some sort of auto-feed on it? I've got a battery Ryobi trimmer, and every start/stop cycle the string advances, whether it needs to or not. There's a cutter bar on the shield that trims it to length, so it doesn't get too long. A lot of start/stop...

Good for them! So much more to life than work, work, work. If you can support yourself on 3 or 4 days a week, go for it! Not many people go to their graves wishing they'd spent more time at the office.

You Know You Are Old When

Can't stand chocolate milk. When I was maybe 7 or 8 my mother bought me some after me bugging her to do so. A couple sips were enough. Never had it again. Even though there were a number of family dairy farms in my neighborhood when growing up, don't think I ever had anything but store milk.

Agree with you on cellphones, but this is hardly restricted to younger generations...many boomers are just as bad. As far as "kids these days" goes, I'm sure when our grandparents were young their elders said the same thing about them. We boomers are hardly the first generation to claim how...

You Know You Are Old When

I hadn't either until maybe a year ago, there was someone returning an empty bottle to the IGA-type market next town over. Hadn't noticed in the cooler before, then again I don't especially like milk so it's not somewhere I'd be looking very often...

And why the automakers are being required to have all this annoying BS nanny crap on cars...auto lane keeping, auto braking, etc.

    How long should things last?

Maybe 6 months ago I was in the southern part of the state, just for grins drove past my house from when I llved there. Still had the same roof I put on it in 1977! Guess I got the good shingles! :D

    Florescent Lighting Bans?

Do they make 8' LED replacement tubes? A neighbor had a bunch in his garage and wasn't able to find any, but this was a few years ago.
