    Garage Heater

Same situation here as the OP...a non-insulated 2 car garage that's also my shop (way too useful a building to "waste" parking a car in :D). I use a woodstove. It's one from my previous house that my wife thought too utilitarian looking for our current house. Mostly I burn stuff I wouldn't...

Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Well that's kind of cool, never noticed those before. I can see how they might be handy.

Battery based electric vehicles of today and tomorrow.

I'm not sure "wisdom" is the right word here, it's a fine line between what he says/does and hucksterism. Yeah, right now he's the golden boy, but you can only promote vaporware for so long before you lose your cred.

Scenery pictures, what does your world look like............

Not sure I'd want to live there, but you have some absolutely incredible scenery. (y)(y)(y)

Going back rural.... Can't wait, where to look?

Can't help but thinking SF Bay area and Idaho are quite the culture clash!

Is that Jay Peak in the background?

    Is Rural Living a Hobby?

That's my definition of a neighbor who lives too close. Waaay too close. I've gotta say, (knocking on wood) that I've always had pretty good neighbors. Friendly, but tended to mind their own business. Can't really think of any who were annoying who stayed very long.

    Ice makers-anyone know them?

Wow, do some people use that much ice? We've just got a couple old-fashioned ice trays that make all we'll ever need. I've read that icemakers in general are rather troublesome. I'm thinking K0ua's suggestion is probably the most likely culprit.

Going back rural.... Can't wait, where to look?

There are mountains in many parts of the country, all of which are scenic.

    Is Rural Living a Hobby?

Around here there never really was any. Most of the towns here aren't large enough to support more than one of any given type of store, though Littleton (maybe 40 min away) does have both a HD and Lowes right next to each other. The Walmart there only has a couple of aisles of food...mostly...

My turn to buy a battery

Don't think I've ever gotten more than 3-4 years out of motorcycle batteries regardless of type. At least in my snowmobile it's easy to get at to jump/replace, my ATV not so much.

    Is Rural Living a Hobby?

I dunno, I know more of my neighbors here than I ever did in suburbia, and have only been here half as long.

    Is Rural Living a Hobby?

I'm guessing that most suburbanites have a much longer than 7 minute commute, but I generally agree. Each has it's own set of advantages/disadvantages. Much as I like living in the sticks, it would be nice not to have to drive an 1.5 hr + each way to get to a store that isn't called Walmart...

My turn to buy a battery

I've also had good experiences with Walmart batteries. Could just be that there's high enough turnover so they're always fresh, but one would think that some of the chain autoparts ones would be the same and they're not always. Won't buy another O'Reilly's house brand, I've had multiple ones...
