By the way, the PTO is independent, and it has the 12 speed with 3 sticks.

It has proven to be a hell of a tractor! My boss has a 9540 Kubota and this MF would pull that Kubota apart. The Kubota was buried to almost the doors, and the ole MF pulled it out like it was nothing. Needs repainted, but it only shows 2089 hours now.

How can I tell if this tractor has the dual clutch, or split torque clutch.

Using your wire technique with a bulb, is working somewhat. If I don't run the lights much it keeps the batteries strong enough to crank it up again, but it's not full charging. What do I need to do next? Try to find the tach wire?

The mowing is about complete for this month. So I will have a couple of weeks to straighten the wiring out hopefully. The tach is definitely electric, because I looked for a cable when it used to stop and start at random times. Thank you for all your help.

This is an 87 model. It's old school, with the manual cable fuel shutoff. If it wasn't for the city's requirements for lights, I would just finish the job without them.

Do you mean a flashlight bulb or would an interior light bulb from a car work? PS: Would the tractor running with the key off have cause an issue? Because that did happen for a couple minutes before I noticed it.

Any idea why this thing has stopped charging? This terminal here. The wire that goes to it, was it supposed to have 12 volts with the key on? There is a small light that burns next to the fuses while it is running.

For a temporary fix, can I just run a wire from the alternator to the battery? I ask because we really need to get this stretch of highway finished, and I can't do it without flashing lights.
