I finally got around to tearing apart my LONG model 1542 rotary tiller to find out why she wouldn't turn when a load was
placed on her. I was hoping that all I needed to do was add a few shims and be done with it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to see seven teeth chewed off the bevel tooth...
I have this exact problem. I have obtained a manual for the Long 1542 tiller, but haven't taken the tiller apart yet. Are one of the nuts that hold the tine assembly shaft left-hand thread?
If I need parts (gear and pinion), do I have a chance of finding them?
