I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

I’m in Carlsbad New Mexico, right square dab in the middle of the Permian basin. Where at any one time there are approx 300 oil rigs running along with everything that goes with it. Along with 4 potash mines and the governments Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) that’s basically another potash...

I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

Yes it was extending the cylinder, so you’re saying because the rod is running through there it takes less oil to extend it as opposed to the other side which is just the top of the piston? So This would clearly make really all cylinders more powerful on kne side and faster and less powerful on...

I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

Like I said before, I didn’t see this post until I thought I fixed it, once I realized it was still doing the same thing I decided to buy the valves, that is all we had really discussed up to that point. It’s ok though I just appreciate the Help, and if that means I wasted 250 dollars it’s not...

I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

Hey guys I appreciate all your help and I’m sorry if you feel your repeating yourselves, however I must have not have seen the leak down test before deciding in buying the valves, in post 22 I specifically asked what can I do to test it to isolate the problem, I didn’t see the leak down test...

I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

Yes the valves both said 2500 psi. So if I do the above test and use a forklift to support the weight, shut off engine and disconnect hoses, what does it mean if fluid comes out of the ports? How will I know if it is leaking internally?

I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

Ok so am I right I’m thinking the last 4 digits may point to pressure tge valve is set to? This lift manufacture is no longer selling parts, I do believe they are stilll in business after multiple bankruptcies and sell offs, but they no longer carry parts for these lifts. So should I put the old...

I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

Yep your right. I ended up and bought two sun valves. The guy I talked to was Trey of precision hydraulics out of Odessa tx. Real nice guy but when I was giving him the numbers off the valves I gave him the first 7 numbers and started to give him the last 4 and he said “the first 7 is all I...

I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

Hey I really appreciate everyone’s help and support through this matter, I believe that metal chip was what had it leaking down. I just blew out valves real well and the holes they thread into along with the hose connections ports. I could never get either valve to come off it’s seat I don’t...

I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

Here’s another one, the one that has the plug in it is “BD.” The blue line is where the blue valves nose would be coming out compared to the red valve.

I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

Or do you mean the holes that the the valves are threaded in are port 1 and port 2?

I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

What do you mean by “port 2?” The ports I have are stamped “R” “”E” and “BD” and then obviously what I’m calling red and blue valves.

Here’s the whole cylinder I’m guessing this extended with the boom cradled?

I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

Ok so if you would tell me again how this works based off these pictures. on the third photo, that’s showing where the red valve goes in, the blue mark is showing we’re the blue valve lines up. I’m guessing the “R” means retract and the “E” means extend? What does the other one mean? “Bleed?”...

I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

Yes when the machine is cradled the lower cylinder is extended, meaning gravity is trying to extend it. here’s what I found (oldnslo I can tell you must have worked in a hydraulic shop or owned one most of your life) because you were exactly right, they r as follows Sun pilot valve “blue” side...

I’ve got a 45’ Eagle towable manlift and bottom boom is leaking down.

Ok so why would there be two identical valves like that? One for up and one for down?how do these valves work? And what would you do before taking it to a shop or buying new valves? And lastly, how would I know which one is actually causing it?
