    Rotory screw log splitter

I looked at the video of the Split-Fire device on a mini-excavator. Does not seem much of a stretch to adapt this to fit a back hoe. Also seems much safer and faster than a screw type splitter.

    30HP vs 26HP 60" bush hog?

One factor not discussed fully has been time to do the tasks. Getting a z-turn dedicated to mowing will save the most time because it is a weekly task but this is only during mowing season. If the time required to mow with one of the tractors is not an issue then do you really want a z-turn? If...

    Cutting up white oak tree

I am in agreement with Peter / Ponytug on this one. Guessing the tree has been dead and drying out for some time. The main trunk would be extremely hard when dry. Some of the old buildings here on the farm are built with white oak. You can’t drive a nail in it. It is tough to cut with a skill...

    Ideas for cannon ball extraction?

I am with the gravity and vibration suggestions. Load the cannon onto a trailer, strap it down so as not to damage it. Tilt the barrel down, then tow the trailer up and down some rough roads. The vibration and gravity may loosen the ball so it rolls out on its own. Be sure you have something to...

    Joined the red club!

Great looking tractor and love the new tires. I have a little 1528 and just love it. A little off topic, but I wonder why the smaller Diesel engines have not gained the popularity here in the US that they have in Europe. My oldest son lives in Italy and drives a little Fiat diesel. It gets great...

"Troy Bilt" 27 ton log splitter, add winch? (Not 20 ton. Helps to know your own equipment)

The OP shows a Kubota B21 in his profile, this should work to power a 12v utility winch. The challenge is how to mount and utilize a winch to best serve the intended purpose. And it seems we are still not sure of the intended purpose. My understanding is that he has a smaller 20 ton splitter...

"Troy Bilt" 27 ton log splitter, add winch? (Not 20 ton. Helps to know your own equipment)

The OP has a Kubota B21 that should have sufficient 12 volt power to run an atv or utility winch. The biggest challenge is how to mount and utilize the winch to best serve the intended purpose.

"Troy Bilt" 27 ton log splitter, add winch? (Not 20 ton. Helps to know your own equipment)

Just saw a coupon on Harbor Freight website for 2500 lb atv winch for only $59.99. If you can determine how to utilize a small winch to help with the rounds this is one to check out.

"Troy Bilt" 27 ton log splitter, add winch? (Not 20 ton. Helps to know your own equipment)

My guess is that your 20 ton splitter is mostly used in the vertical position and you are looking for easier ways to move the cut “rounds” up to the splitter. Guessing you don’t have a grapple or method using your front end loader to move the rounds. Could you mount a 12 volt winch on the 3 pt...

    Mowing Steep Hills

With only 1/3 acre and your budget limited to $4,000 or less I would suggest a used commercial walk behind with a stand on sulky. This would probably have a lower center of gravity than any riding mower or z turn in your budget. Here is a skag with only 750 hours in your budget. It does not list...

Question on Disc Harrow work. . .

Myself and many others want to keep equipment just in case we need it in the future. But it really boils down to the finances. If you really need the z turn and can only afford if you sell the disc, then sell the disc. However, I saw that Kubota is offering 0% financing for 36 to 48 months...

I have no idea what to buy

Some questions. . . .What is your budget for the mower? Commercial diesel z turns are wonderful, but could be way beyond your budget. Also, the advice to buy from a dealer instead of a big box store is a good idea. You can get service, parts and advice on the various models at a dealer, things...

    CA wont stay running

How long did you test the gas flow from the tank to the carb? Make sure you get good strong continuous flow of gas. I had trash in my tank and flow seemed good then would just stop. Stirring the tank would give a little gas it would run until the trash settled and blocked the flow again.

I have a Massey Ferguson 1533 year 2006 It's is overheating to a the max and past I replaced the Thermostat flush the sytem with water What else

I would pull out the thermostat and try running it without one. If it runs ok and does not overheat then the thermostat is not opening.

Smaller rear tires to lower tractor ROPS so I can fit into my trailer when hauling

If you are not a welder, I would guess that having a competent welder modify your ROPs to fit the trailer height (either shorter or folding) while still being safe to use would be less cost than buying new wheels and tires for the rear of your tractor.
