I won't use Stabil in anything. Like you have seen too many failures. Part of the reason is they claim that it protects fuel UP to 2 years, And the reasoning for UP to 2 years is because the unused part of the bottle expires 2 years after opening.

If they are hydro-gear pumps than I wouldn't be afraid to run 20w50 since that is the hydrogear recommended weight oil

No, it is an idle circuit issue. When not under load an engine runs on the idle circuit of the carb. Even at full throttle the idle circuit is the primary, and the high speed jet doesn't come into play unless under load.

Stop pumping. The cavities are shipped dry from the factory so you are filling a large void with most likely fully sealed bearings that are not going to see any or very little of that large cavity of grease,
