Rehabbing a repairable 05 Honda Civic

This shows the process of repairing a Civic with only 800 miles on it. It was a stick EX with a sunroof and alloy wheels. It was hit square on the left rear door and quarter panel and wheel. The top third of the alloy wheel cracked off and was shoved into the wheel well, crimping the gas filler...

    NH TC40DA vs. Challenger MT275B

I believe the Challenger is an Iseki from Japan. It's a respected manufacture. They are big in Australia. Bigger ones around 30+ use Isuzu diesels and they have there own motor in the smaller stuff. I own a 22 horse 1986 Bolens G214 with a back hoe and FEL and it's a honey. Recent small MF's are...

    Rehab a late model repairable

My neighbor is a body man and I grew up around cars, tractors and machinery. He put me on to fixing late model wrecks which I've given to the kids. We've done three, an '03 Pontiac Vibe, an '05 Civic and an '05 Corolla. I pick cars that are crumpled away from the running gear, in the rear. The...

    Trash burner, Ember arrestor

Made from a 250 gal fuel oil storage tank. Both ends open so you can put in a lot of long brush. The spark arrestor has 3/8" diamond shaped holes. In the middle, a lower door opens down for ashes and an upper door opens out for smaller stuff.

    Carbonized diesel intake manifold

My wife's 2001 VW Beattle with 50,000 miles on a TDI diesel started to lose power and the previous MPG of 51 on the highway decreased. She drives only 3 miles to work, so alot of short trips. Here are a series of photos that graphically depict NOT working a diesel hard and NOT letting it...

Shops that heat with used oil

Here in the north woods many automotive/truck/tractor repair shops heat with used oil, using oil furnaces specially made for that with fancy filter systems. I take my used oils to them. It builds a relationship that comes in handy.

    Homemade Sprayer

I was going to post this earlier but my new Red Hat /Fedora operating system took some effort to conquer photo resizing. My homemade sprayer. 35 gallon capacity, sprays 14' swath or less, 11.5 gallons per acre or a hand wand can be used. 1)The green tank under the 35 gal polyethylene is a...

Oil additive Zn PO4 works in cast iron engine

Since this discussion has gotten a lot more scientific lately, here is an interesting article re the additive Zn PO4. Under enough pressure this molecule complexes with itself and doesn't squish out between 2 metal surfaces thus supplying lubrication. The kicker is that that pressure is only...

    Serious Task Lighting

Here is my solution for lighting. There are 2- 500 watt halogens on 3 hinged arms that stick out 9 feet from the sidewall. I have 9 foot ceiling and I also hang a power cord from it. It was one of my first welding projects with my Lincoln 200 Power Mig (230V) weldor

Hand pad for climbing on tractor

When climbing on or off the tractor the FEL post is the natural hand hold, especially with senior citizen knees I welded-up this little diddy that's heavy enough to stay put and lifts out for zert access.

Getting rid of junk photos in new gallery

I just tried to download photos into the new Photo Gallery. It down loaded one from my computer of the original tree snipper. I put url of my post yesterday from Build it Yourself thinking it would "detect and parse" the photos from the thread. Instead it included personal photo...

    Tree Snipper Update

More than a year ago I built a tree snipper that replaced the bucket on the FEL original post Here is an update. One handy feature is the ability to latch on to the tree after it's sniped and carry it to the brush pile.
