What do you drive for a truck?

Most of my farm work is done with a Jeep tj and a home built trailer, but I recently bought my late father in law’s 96 powerstoke dually. I sure enjoy that 7.3 rumble.

Buying Advice First tractor for small family farm. Branson or something else?

I only have about 3 hours in it, but it’s not bad. A phone held up to your ear or on a Bluetooth headset would probably be fine, but on speaker in the cup holder wouldn’t likely work. Radio at a reasonable volume is fine up until you have to bring the revs up very high. 540 pto speed may be a...

I sure enjoy this hobby. Planning to add to it yearly.

Delivered this afternoon. Unfortunately I had too much scheduled at work and didn’t have much time to play. I’m really looking forward to getting a lot done with this thing.

For the majority of my adult life, we've lived places that needed little to no outdoor work; apartments, townhouses, etc. Now that we finally have some land I'm back to doing things like cutting grass, that I haven't really done since I moved out of Dad's house. I've been putting my headphones...

We have no ocean breeze here in Western PA, so I guess it is good I got the cab!

Well, I pulled the trigger this weekend on a TYM 5520Ch. I will post pictures whenever I take delivery this week; I know the rules. I bought from the farther TYM Dealer, but they're second generation and they also sell McCormick and a ton of other attachments. I don't expect them to go...

I sure appreciate all these responses! What a great forum! I went and checked out the Kiotis and Mahindras last Friday. I’m comfortable crossing Kioti off the list, but I was impressed by the Mahindra. Fit and finish wasn’t great, but it’s a lot of tractor for the money and seems to be simple...

This is a real concern. That said, I feel TYM bought Branson for the Kukje engine. The TYM 554 runs a Yanmar which makes me suspect both may be discontinued for a later combined, but new, tractor in this horsepower range.

By the time I realistically get into making hay, I'll have two sons at hay throwing age. Round bales aren't super high priority. My biggest thought with the cab is honestly health and safety. I'm prone to burning in the sun and would prefer to have my ears and lungs fully functioning as I age...

That's a good looking tractor and one heck of a tiller!

I will certainly check out the Kioti's. My dad has a BX Kubota and I almost went that route a few months back, but I'm certain I would have been disappointed in the capabilities of a tractor that small with my property. I live out in the boonies, so not much of anything is closer than 45...

Buying Advice First tractor for small family farm. Branson or something else?

I have yet to see anyone with a cab express regret about getting it. But I do wonder if stepping up in size to a comparably priced, but open station Branson 5835 might be a worthwhile tradeoff. I’m hoping I’ve overestimated my needs with the 5520, but don’t want to shortly replace this tractor...

Clearing the road with the JD 5525 back in January was rather chilly.
