Thank you for the replies. I ran 15W40 through the motor and did an oil change shortly thereafter. I then ran 10w30 conventional as it has a lower detergent concentration than the 15W40. I'm going to keep doing changes frequently until the sludge has diminished.

Has anyone ever changed the injector seals on a 4600 series 3 cylinder diesel? The torque spec lists 17 ft/lbs on the two 5/16-18 bolts holding down the injectors but 17 ft/lbs is about max torque for these grade 5 bolts before failure. I have them cranked down to 16 ft/lbs but it feels...
