Hi - I picked up a practically brand new 3 point hitch cement mixer (Cosmo Mixer 80). Only issue is that the previous owner managed to skip the chain and get it stuck between the guard and the large sprocket. It looks like a pretty simple repair - but before I make it more complicated - I...
Hey there,
Been thinking of putting chains on my rear tires for ages now - just came across a local deal, but I'm unsure on sizing...
My tires are 16.9x24 Industrial.
The chains are advertised as 11 feet long and 2 feet wide - they are a simple ladder style.
Will these fit close...
Hey Folks - Happy Thanksgiving from Canada (yeah - we're not on the same timeline...)
Back to report some more progress on the plow. Completion in fact with the exception of hydraulics and painting...
So today's tasks were:
Weld the rear holders for the hydraulics on:
Weld the d-ring on...
Time to update with some more progress... Today was time to weld the structural bracing to the quick attach plate:
I'm fairly happy with the welding. I'm a rank amateur welder - so this is a fairly satisfactory result. No - I didn't take pics of the welds that looked worse than this... :)...
Today's progress:
Welded up the a-frame from all the pieces I cut yesterday.
Fit it to the plow just to check my progress so far
Cut and drilled the pieces for the a-frame to pivot on the quick attach plate
Tomorrow's job will be to replace the chuck on my drill press that decided to fall...
I agree that the QA plate overlay is overkill. The horizontal members are 3x2 x 1/4 which seemed about right to me. The vertical members are 6" c-channel and massive overkill - but this was leftover from building my sawmill last year. Free was better than buying something smaller, so I stuck...
G'day,
After reading so many other threads on snow plow conversions (and learning a lot!) I started my own conversion today. No welding yet - just some cutting, grinding and dry fitting so far.
I decided to go with a clevis hitch receiver as the angle point for the plow. Seemed cheaper...
It's only that far forward right now as the blade is face down - it does pivot back.
Here is my latest workup moving the pivot point forward on the a-frame as suggested. I'd like to start buying material and start welding this weekend - so I have another question for folks. All of the tubing...
Here's what I'm dealing with for a plow... A little rough - but certainly usable. The worst is the one end where it's bashed in pretty good with a bad repair on top of it.
Not sure I'll keep the hinged piece on the back - anyone have any strong opinions on that? It's seems to be an add-on...
Ok - morning coffee and some time spent with sketchup... Pretty crude drawing - but based on feedback - here's what I came up with.
Mount is now underslung on the QA-Plate with 2" of clearance between the a-frame and the bottom of the QA-Plate. Cylinders and chains are not shown.
Sean.
Hey there - I'm pretty sure the blade is a Fisher. It's old and very very used with no markings. It's an edge trip that compresses the springs on the back - as opposed to a full blade trip that stretches the springs.
Below is what I'm thinking I'll weld up. The yellow part already exists on...
Hey folks,
I know it's likely been covered many times before - but I'm clearly searching for the wrong terms... I'm looking for information on hooking up snow plow hydraulics (single action cylinders) to the front of my tractor. I've got three scenarios I'm considering from cheapest and most...
Hey Folks,
Let me see if I can tidy up downstairs enough to snap a few pictures, although I'm happy to describe it here first...
The holding tanks are cylindrical tanks - rounded on each end - and stand upright. Like this picture - but standing on end.
As mentioned - the clean water is...
Ok - I'd say the difference is fairly pronounced... :)
