    M115776 deck belt / Kevlar

I was looking online for a replacement M115776 belt for my 44" mulching deck for my LX178. It's the long belt that drives the three spindles. I see a lot of aftermarket "Kevlar" belts like PIX brand or D&D: Amazon.com : Replacement For John Deere Belt M115776, Made with Kevlar to FSP...

    Woodpecker Hammering On The Raingutter

I heard a woodpecker hammering away on something metal the other day and went out to investigate and brought my camera. Found a red-headed woodpecker banging away at a road sign. I was able to get within about 15' of him and snap a couple of photos before he took off. It sure makes a racket.

    Dog pics

A couple of weeks ago we were visiting a friend who lives in an apartment building. We had our dogs with us and were walking down the hall and this woman is walking towards us and lets out a little scream and starts backing away from us. And then she starts laughing and tells us she thought we...

    Smartphone Photo of the Day

Below are a couple of shots I took while pulling this Cummins 6CTA 8.3L 450HP engine out of a 48' Novatech yacht. The engine got salt water into the cylinders and seized it so we need to put a new one in. The problem is that the boat builders didn't leave any openings large enough to get the...

    Great stump grinder

We had about 20 stumps around the property that finally got on my nerves enough to rent a stump grinder over the Labor Day weekend (it is, after all, labor day). This thing made mince meat of them. Had a couple of cedar stumps about 6' in diameter and a 3' monkey puzzle stump as well as...

    Dog pics

We had to put down Wally, our Lab-Basset mix, due to cancer. Our Golden, Sadie, was lonely so we adopted Skye, a White-Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix. He's eight but is full of energy (too much energy). He's still very keen on getting at the chickens and sheep as he was raised in the city, but...

    Tapping Screwdriver made in USA?

I never heard back from the E-bay seller. In the meantime, I wrote a letter to Klein. Not that it would really do anything...but with enough people crying out, someone may eventually listen. Here is a link to Klein's "American Manufacturing" page that I reference in the letter wherein Klein...

    Tapping Screwdriver made in USA?

I recently bought a Klein tapping screwdriver to replace an older Klein that was stolen/lost. The handle says "Made in USA" but the tapping portion of the tool is stamped "China" and it broke on the first use. Took it back for a refund. It was the same as this one listed on Amazon...

Remote control for gate release / auto closer

Our sheep are getting more and more wily each year and it's hard to get them penned up in their shed so we can administer vaccines, trim their hoofs, shear them, etc.... I put in a new, light weight gate and I want to be able to close it with a remote control "key-fob" from a distance. The...

Is the Photo Gallery gone for good?

I asked this question in the "Forum Upgrade - Any issues?" but never got a reply. So, is the Photo Gallery coming back or is gone for good? Thanks.

    Painting underside of mower deck

I've been painting the underside of my mower deck (44" JD Piranha mulcher) with Rustoleum high-gloss oil-based enamel each year and it does an ok job of protecting the deck and making cleaning easier but it doesn't seem to last. There's a photo below showing what it looks like after a fresh...
