    Resharpen or Replace

I’m in agreement. While my place is relatively small (1acre), I am mowing with the original blades on my 2013 Kubota BX25D. The blades are dressesed lightly with a flapper disc and sharpened with a file by hand. The edge comes out like a knife without removing too much material. Yes, it takes...

    Land plane blade mounts ?

My land plane is 58” wide for use behind a Kubota BX25D. The front blade is angled 15 degrees. The cutters are standard box blade cutter bars which are bolted to 4 four inch angle iron. If I had it to do over I would move the rear blade all the way to the back of the unit and move the front...

How far is too far for driving tractor on the road?

I live in rural Virginia and there is a lot of BIG equipment on the road but almost all traveling short distances. I would recommend against tractoring that far. Mostly because of the stupid people driving cars. Put an ad on Craigs List and see what you can arrange.

Weld table, what tools are your favorite?

Easy trick on magnets. I put mine in zip lock bags. They hold just fine and all the grindings and metal dust drop off when you take them out of the bag.

Weld table, what tools are your favorite?

I added four 4” capacity corner clamps to my welding tool inventory. It makes set up much easier. I have twelve C clamps with throats ranging for 6” to 15” and run three Mikita grinders: one with a flap wheel, one with a grinder disc and one with a cutoff wheel. I use a five foot length of...

    A few (probably) dumb questions.

Lots of good comments here, but let me add one thought. If your bush hog is older, sharpen it. That way you are cutting not thrashing and bashing the brush. It is easier on the implement and the tractor. I run an old Howse four foot on a Kubota BX 25D. It does a far better job kept sharp.

    Working under the tractor

I have BX25D. Floor jack and jack stands work fine, completely stable on a hard surface like a concrete floor. Remove backhoe and FEL before jacking up. Yes, the front axle pivots but this is not an issue if the front axle jack stands are set at the same height. Buy quality jack stands. It’s...
