Mission accomplished!
I was surprised at how simple the ram is internally.
The hardest part of this job was the tight fit of the seals making them hard to fit in place.
I had to do a bit of improvisation here and there, but we got there in the end. ;-)
I cleaned up the corrosion on the end cap with the wire wheel on my bench grinder.
The mosquitoes drove me out of my workshop and into the house this evening.
Re-assembling tomorrow!

I have downloaded the schematic and workshop manual and located a seal kit, so once I order the kit and it arrives I'll attack the ram.

It's a small dribble under pressure, no leak at all when the steering is not being used.
